My headline might have buried the lede. On the one hand, it's catchy to hear Chris Matthews proclaim his belief that reparations for slavery "make sense."
But in the grand scope of things, one more liberal pundit coming out for reparations might be small potatoes. Perhaps the bigger story was the statement on this evening's Hardball by Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC). The former head of the Congressional Black Caucus revealed that he saw nationalized health care as a part of reparations.

Matthews’ mouth runs 7200 RPM while his brain is in neutral.
As was said in a Monty Python movie: "I fart in your general direction!"
This guy says the CIA estimates about 50,000 slaves are held in some type of bondage here in the US. He infers that “major corporations” are behind this and soon one day, the economy will collapse.
Since it doesn’t match the agenda, I imagine this guy doesn’t mention that most of these slaves are held by illegal or extremely recent criminal immigrants to the US, and that they get their naive “supply” from back home. Big difference between that and walmart.
I would like to see this Oklahoma welding shop that has the armed guards.
To the reparationists: Please accept my apology for slavery (something I had absolutely nothing to do with), and here is Chris Matthew’s pasty-white hide. Now, let’s call it even.
What about the BILLIONS of dollars we have already payed them through welfare?!
Chrissy wants to be White House spokesperson so bad he’s got callouses on his knees from practicing for when he can finally “serve” Obama.
I have a triple great uncle who was a confederate cavalry officer killed at Gaines Mill. I guess I’m screwed.
We let you in. Be grateful. Pay through the nose!
My point in posting the link is that slavery exists in the US today. You don’t have to reach through time.
Yes much of it comes from South Asians or the sex trade or with ‘nannies’ who can’t speak English.
The trillions spent since the War on Poverty alone, coupled with CRA and its related meltdown, have reduced the value of accumulated wealth of any US citizen to tuppance.
“I have a triple great uncle who was a confederate cavalry officer killed at Gaines Mill. I guess Im screwed.”
Well, I guess I know where MY reparations money is coming from.
Pay up Johnny!
This could be interesting. If black folk get reparations, that isn’t going to set too well with the white folk who had nothing to do with slavery. It may very well leat to confrontation of megga size. Then the Pontuf steps in declares Martial law, and the btaf and others of same likemindedness pick up your firearms. The question seems to be, Are you ready for another civil war because I think thats what will happen.
Oh please, let it be Chris Dodds farmhouse!

To the tune of OKLAHOMA HILLS
Way down yonder in the Negro nation
Scamming whitey is my occupation
In dat old tenement housing where I was born
Way down yonder in the Negro nation
We be screamin for some reparations
In dat old tenement housing where I was born
100% tax on the income of leg-thrilled government propaganda tools, effective immediately.
Isn’t this what it’s been all about for the past 6 months?
Why worry about this at all.
We know that 95% of us won’t have to pay anything. Only the rich will have to pay the reparations. /s
Oh, I agree with you 100%. I just thought that the link from sfgate was interesting.
I hope so because otherwise it means the US is officially dead. Everything envisioned and set forth in 1776 is but a figment and white people have become mindless lemmings.
He can kindly pay anyone he feels like reparations. As for me and my family, you aint getting jack, anyone! I am 3rd generation American. Besides, no one in America should feel obligated to pay for the sins of their fathers.
