A Despicable Woman (Queen Barbara Boxer)
The Chattanoogan.com ^ | 6-21-2009 | Roy Exum

Posted on 06/23/2009 11:25:03 AM PDT by Colonel Kangaroo

It wasn’t lost on me that earlier this week a U.S. Senator from Nevada, John Ensign, brought shame to his position when he admitted he had an extramarital affair but it was more revealing when another Senator, this one from California, needlessly brought about further scorn when she publicly denounced a Brigadier General for his courtesy.

Barbara Boxer, a Democrat who takes certain delight in browbeating others, lashed into Michael Walsh, who heads the Army’s Corps of Engineers, during a Senate hearing when she told him, “Could you say ‘Senator’ instead of ‘ma’am?’ It’s just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title. I’d appreciate it.”

The General, who, let’s acknowledge, probably worked a lot harder to get his title, immediately responded, “Yes, Senator,” but, as he did, the honor and responsibility of civility was once again seriously eroded, and columnists across the country immediately belted the woman for being everything from shallow to arrogant.

I don’t believe that is what being a Senator is about. As a leader of our nation, one who wants to send an envoy to North Korea, she should know best that statesmanship, not to mention kindness and grace, is paramount in dealing with others.

Sure, she’s a liberal who is recognized for her anti-military stance, but to publicly deride an officer and a gentleman of trying to show her the respect the office deserves is unfathomable. When addressed by male Senators, Gen. Walsh correctly and politely replied with “Sir.” He was merely trying to exhibit the same standards to a female.

But the despicable 4-foot-11 Boxer, who, it is said, also no longer wants to be called “Ms. Boxer” after 40 years of marriage, brought ridicule to not only herself – which is okay by “Left Coast” standards – but unwittingly to the Senate itself, like her role is a “we” versus “us” sort of character.

All of my life I have known to hold a door open for an approaching female. Don’t worry, I do the same for kids trying to catch up with their mothers, or a totally unknown guy who is walking in behind me, and I have found that “being nice” neither costs a penny or slows my daily journey.

When I was growing up, one of my closest friends was an older black man, and if he told me once he told me a hundred times, “Sonny boy, there are two things that will never go out of style – a prayer and a smile.” I was raised that way. I was taught early to say “thank you” when anyone, male or female, held an elevator for me or offered any type of kindness.

Some years later, I was taught that when you talked to a person older or one of authority, you never said a sentence without either “sir” or “ma’am” attached to it. It wasn’t a Southern thing, it was a human thing. And if such a person began to talk, you better take your sunglasses and your hat off before they finished the first sentence so you could jolly well look them in the eye.

For Barbara Boxer to call a grown man down for using his manners is absolutely deplorable to me. It smacks of total disrespect after he first offered it, and, yes, I’ll never again consider her a lady. Several articles I’ve read lately refer to the haughty air that some in Washington, particularly among Democrats, now enjoy, but how many bumble-bees do they think they’ll attract with such vinegar?

A day or two after the incident, Sen. Boxer’s handlers issued a release that, yes, she’d later called Gen. Walsh, and they had a cordial conversation, where they shared their respect for one another, but it got little notice after the cruel put-down the Californian had so skillfully delivered in public forum.

The worst question is “why,” what on earth did she have to gain? Pride? Conceit? Hurt? Whatever reason she wants to give, it will never be enough to insult a U.S. soldier for doing what he thought was best, so put me down as a very ashamed American, one who is certain our men and women who fight for our freedom should never, ever, be treated with such flagrant abuse by an elected official.

How in the world did such a despicable person ever occupy a Senate chair?

And Republicans are supposed to be "mean spirited"? Maybe the little woman thought she deserved an exemption from having to display common courtesy because she's a girl.

There are two things going on here.

First, she believes it’s her divine right to be a Senator and that we the people are the servants.

Secondly, this is a woman who I don’t doubt spit on the uniform in her youth

She was just playing to her base. The people who support her loved the exchange.

A despicable person to be sure. But no less despicable are the types who voted for her. And many have voted for her 3 times.

Funny how the Senator can be offended at what was meant as courtesy— a title used with only the best intentions. Yet Sarah Palin is being unreasonable for being offended by David Letterman. Our military can be criticized for something said with honorable intentions, while David Letterman is entitled to cover for something said with malice. Just goes to show the liberals are more familiar with low class “humor” than with the etiquette of the US military. Why am I not surprised?

Another bitchy power struggle over inane remarks like this demonstrates how idiots are in charge. In DC it’s all about POWER. Who demands it? Who demonstrates it? CA bitches like PeLIESi, Boxer & Feinstein, all RATS & all demonstrate it, are prime examples that need to be taken down some notches.

I’m sure the General was thinking Alpha Hotel or Sierra Hotel, after her request. Hey, she’s a typical Brooklyn radical Lib, I would expect no less from her. Papa probably brought the “Daily Worker” home with him instead of leaving it on a seat on the IRT or BMT.

What surprised me was not so much Barbara Boxer’s request to be addressed as Senator. It was her answering her own request, saying “Yes,” “Thank you” before the general had a chance to reply.

I think she may be on medication of some kind.

Ma'am said by a military person is showing respect for the person they are addressing... I am sure Boxer is aware that being called a senator, is not really showing respect to any one willing to whore their life out like most congress ppl do, last I checked congress had a 9% approval rating.. The military has about a 99.9 %

“When addressed by male Senators, Gen. Walsh correctly and politely replied with “Sir.” He was merely trying to exhibit the same standards to a female.”

She doesn’t want the ‘same standards’. The logical conclusion is that Sen. Boxer thinks a woman is less than a man. To be elevated to the same level as a ‘sir’, she needs to be called ‘senator’ which does not reveal her gender.

The standard liberal Democrat arrogance ("we're the really smart people"), combined with the knowledge that she has a lifetime job (a lefty Democrat from San Francisco, California isn't about to lose her senate seat in this lifetime) and the left's hatred of not only America but, especially, our military, gave us that little scene in which a haughty woman politician instructs a middle-age Army General - after he has addressed her as 'Ma'am' - to call her 'Senator'. In that televised exchange, Barbara Boxer looked like the arrogant political hack she is. She richly deserves the scorn she's received for her arrogance.

When will people wake up and see these leftist posers for what they really are? Well, maybe SENATOR Boxer has done her part to rip the mask off and show America the nasty little people underneath, masquerading as serious statesmen and thoughtful, oh-so- compassionate 'public servants'. Don't hold your breath. Obama still has decent approval numbers, so I think the American people have morphed into the good little peons the Marxists in Washington expected them to be. After all, Obama is 'historic' and gee, he sounds so good, too.

Spare me.

Sometimes only one word can be used to describe a woman like her.

She is quite frankly a Bit*h.

But why does she continue to demean women by suggesting that a female Senator is less than a male Senator?

Boxer is a pompous, self-important airhead, typical of the sort the state of California seems to prefer. Definitely a strong contender for the least impressive and most ridiculous member of Congress.
