Nov. 4 will mark the 30th anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history.
A horde of Iranian militants poured down Taleghani Street in Tehran, crashing through the gates of the U.S. embassy, taking 52 Americans hostage.
Bound and blindfolded, our countrymen were paraded in front of TV cameras and threatened for 444 days. It took more than five months for the emasculated Jimmy Carter presidency to hatch a rescue attempt.

How wrong they were. An American president's words helped bring down the Berlin Wall and ultimately the Soviet Union.
And without firing a shot, a fact lost on the historical illiterates among the Obama administration and its amen corner in the predictably soft Democratic Party.
Always glad to scold others who did not come down hard enough on regimes they didn't like, this paralyzed high-horse brigade insists America is walking the proper line by denying today's Iranian protesters the support they desperately need.

But there is another leader hesitant to see Ahmedinejad go: Barack Obama. A Mir Hossein Mousavi victory obliterates Obama's dream of charming the pants off a proven lunatic, affirming that the sheer force of his personality can do more than his predecessor's nasty war.

A successful revolution in Iran would further cement the correctness of Bush's vision, a nightmare to a narcissistic neophyte like Obama, sworn to prove not only that everything he does is supremely correct but that anyone who differs must be disgraced.
The protesters grow weary of Khameini's bullets and beatings. They will soon give up. They thought America would help them in their bold attempt to stand up for democracy.

Obama came right out in his speech and called for "CHANGE." The voters responded and had the election stolen by the ones who control the guns and the ballot box in Iran...now Obama is nowhere to be found.

Well the child voters can now be proud of their child president... Voting present doesn’t work in the real world, particularly when peoples lives hang in the balance...
After watching this play out in Iran for a week it is clear that this street revolution has gone beyond an election. It’s not about Mousavi anymore...it’s about freedom. The chants have changed from ‘Where is My Vote’ to ‘Death To The Regime’. Given that hopeful sign, I don’t see why we shouldn’t help these people outright with guns and bullets.
After all, the Iranian regime has been sending terrorists into Iraq to kill our soldiers for years now. Why is everyone so afraid to support these people with more than words?

Foreign policy is easy when all you have to do is snipe from the sidelines. You get to demand perfection and heap abuse on your opponent for any flaw, real or imagined. You're never wrong. Your opponent is never right.
It's a lot different when your name's on it. There's nowhere to hide, and all sticking your head in the sand does for you is elevate your butt to be kicked.
This, I think, is the reason behind Obama's reticence. He wants to be able to say hey conquered Ahmed' because through his will, guile and negotiation skills.
BTW, Mark Davis is almost impossible to listen to when he fills in for Rush. He rattles on and on and speaks in asides like no one I have ever heard before.
He can write though.
It's pretty straight forward what's going on here. Obama doesn't want to upset Boss Putin and the Russians. Ahmadinejad is their guy. Obama has spent his whole life around people who are dedicated to the destruction of America and sympathetic to the Russians and ChiComs (Wright, Ayers, Dohrn, FM Davis, etc).

Of course O’s goal is to get to the negotiating table. This “pesky” revolution is just wasting his time.
He will in no way be critical anyone with power in the media to thier face.
If you want to sell a book go on his show. He will kiss every inch of a power players ass for an hour of face time.
He is by far the worst Rush sit-in ever.
I’ll second that sentiment. I do however listen to him regularly. Davis has bursts of thoughts—sometimes very tangential— he doesn’t seem to be able to keep to himself. Most of us just self-edit; he spews forth everything in his head. He’s a smart guy but is grating to the uninitiated listener. The notion of small doses springs to mind when the name Mark Davis is mentioned.
I'm glad someone else thinks so. I can't believe Rush can't find someone better than him. He's horrible.
That said, there wasn't any more we could do for the Iranians than we could for the Hungarians in 1956.
Since 9/11/2001, the USA's goal should have been to topple the Iranian regime from within. Perhaps it was the goal; I'm not privy to CIA ops. But then 0-boy got elected, and he favored engagement instead. Now, regime change is within our grasp, and 0-boy does nothing. He is the Chamberlain of our time.
The uprising is a repudiation of his engagement policy, and he knows it. It's now clear that the Iranian people hate their government, but 0-boy has already committed to a policy of playing nice with the mullahs.
I wish this uprising had occurred while Bush was still president; then at least there would have been a chance to give the mullahs the boot.
He made my “never again” list when he went off on that goofy blabber about Sanford today.
