Stress of comeback blamed for death of pop king Michael Jackson
June 27, 2009 10:00am
THE stress of a hugely anticipated series of comeback shows in London caused Michael Jackson's death, his close friend Uri Geller says.
Spoon-bending psychic and performer Geller, who lives in Britain, said Jackson was desperate to prove to the world that he was still a superstar despite child abuse allegations which had seriously damaged his career.
The paranormalist described the scale of Jackson's planned comeback shows - some 50 concerts at London's O2 Arena, which were due to start in July - as ``just scary''.
``He wanted to prove to the world that he is number one, that he is still Michael Jackson, that he can still deliver a thriller,'' Geller told BBC radio.
``The anticipation, the stress levels, the anxiety for what was coming up in London was so huge ... I believe that that stopped his heart''.
Jackson had stayed with Geller at his home in Sonning, Berkshire, west of London, repeatedly and was best man when Geller renewed his wedding vows in 2001.
Geller said he was ``shocked and devastated'' by Jackson's death, saying he was ``hoping this is a dream I will wake up from''.
``I had my rows and ups and downs with him because we were

Dancing stuff? I'm not really too partial to it...
Zero.
He taught me to disapprove of perverts several orders of magnitude more than I thought possible.
Well, I stopped having those sleep overs with the neighbors’ kids and didn't get that nose job, so...
Wellllll ... I DID spend an afternoon trying to learn to moonwalk ... other than that .... nope ... can’t think of a thing.
Jackson was wierd; so who knows.
MJ certainly influenced my life ...I started out as a normal white guy ,now I am a strange black woman who cavorts with monkeys
I was on the air at a rural AM-FM station in 1977 when Elvis bit it.
You would not believe the hate that came in over the phones.
I was accused of creating a pub stunt for ratings....
Until I hit the network news at the top of the hour....
Suddenly, the phones went silent......
In my youth, both Jackson and Donnie Osmond affected my life a little, in that they both were little boys who could not help but impress with skill beyond their years.
When they grew up, they both were pathetic; but especially Michael Jackson. No one should be that conflicted over being an adult.
I’m glad that Michael inspired some of Weird Al’s best work, though!!!
A drug addicted, pedophile dies from an overdose and the whole world comes to a standstill. Go figure.
I liked some of the Jackson Five stuff, and ‘Thriller’ was a great, great album. That was 27 years ago and it was all downhill from there. It wasn’t long after ‘Thriller’ that Jackson turned himself into a one-man walking carnival freak show, something you want to turn away from but you can’t help gawking, like a bad highway accident.
Influence my life? Nah. I just enjoyed some of the music long ago.
It’s a shame, but Jackson has basically been gone for decades.
I can honestly say that he is actually one ‘celebrity’ I would have liked to have known personally. As a child, I was fascinated with his talent. I followed his career and the trial (via transcripts) very closely and was thrilled when justice prevailed. Unfortunately, I don’t believe this gifted man ever recovered. May he rest in peace.
That was you? You STILL owe me a few Benjamins - and the monkeys will settle later...
Too many hateful FReepers regarding Michael Jackson....this reminds me of the hatefulness toward Tammy Faye. So I’ll keep my posting regarding him...................................................................................................
Influenced me to change the station everytime one of his gay songs came on.
There’s a reason Jackson had done no serious rehearsing and never got around to hiring dancers and choreographers for his boffo comeback tour. He knew it wasn’t going to happen. Down inside, he knew it wasn’t going to happen.
I think the autopsy will find that Jackson was a walking pharmacy.
Tammy Faye never wrote anything remotely like the song Morphine by Michael Jackson. Read the lyrics he wrote:
He got flat baby
Kick in the back baby
A heart attack baby
I need your body
A hot kiss honey
He’s just a bitch baby
You make me sick baby
So unrelying
I’m such a swine baby
All down the line daddy
I hate your kind baby
So unreliable
A hot buzz baby
He’s one of us baby
Another drug baby

There’s no need to dismay
Close your eyes and drift away

How was Donny Osmond pathetic when he grew up?
