Sebelius: Public plan won't ration
Politico ^ | 6/28/09 | staff

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius defended the government-run program favored by President Obama against arguments that it would ration care.

“I don’t think there’s anything about the public option that would ration care. Unfortunately care is being rationed each and everyday right now. Often private insurance companies stand between a patient and a doctor deciding what treatment can be provided,” she said on Fox News Sunday. “We also have a situation where a lot of people are told that hey can’t have insurance because they have a preexisting condition.”

Of course it won't. And Obama will take 5 days to review every bill before he signs it too.

ROTFL! Some of these buffoons really crack me up. Sebelius needs to go back to calculating what ObamaCare is going to cost the taxpayers. The last time she was asked that question, she didn’t have a clue.

The biggest method of rationing is not by forbidding care, just by putting everyone on a prioritized waiting list. So if you are 75 years old, you'll be at the bottom of the list and should get your angioplasty in 5 years, depending on the breaks. Hope you weren't planning on using your heart in the interim.

If half the people die in line waiting for care that they could have had nearly immediately now, they weren't killed by rationing or by the government. It just happened.

Either it has to be rationed, or every Joe Schmo that shows up with the sniffles or a stubbed toe is going to demand treatment. And the taxpayers will have to pay for that nonsense.

Or, the alternative is the government turns those people away. And once they start down the path of turning people away, well, you can imagine the sweetheart arrangements and special privileges that will be granted to the "special cases." And those who are turned away will be the truly desperate and deserving who aren't the "desirable" candidates for care. Soviet care, Obama style.

Either way, we're screwed.

In the UK the Prime Minister is campaigning with a novel pledge: Waits to enter a hospital will not exceed a maximum of 18 months.

Well, the care isn't rationed.

Of course the proposed system will result in rationed care.
Of course the current system rations care.
That is what “economies” do.
The real question is on what basis will care be rationed? At least now, if you don’t like the level of care provided by your primary care network, you can mortgage the house and buy your own. That is not an option in most socialized systems. [Unless you are Castro and can send away for doctors from Spain.]

The fact of the matter is that in many socialized systems you WAIT IN LINE just to get a diagnosis. On one of the Free Canada sites the commentator stated that sometimes one waits in one line to get in the actual line in order to get medical treatment.

I was reminded of our Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles where you wait in a line which can be 30 minutes long in order to get a number which will be called about 45 minutes later.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius ought to stop telling such transparent lies. The very nature of 0bama’s plan rations health care and he even admitted as much by calling it ‘better’, not ‘more’ health care which only has meaning as an admission of health care rationing.

I wonder how long the MP’s have to wait. Does the Queen wait on the 18 month list? Or is there a special list for “important people”?

This administration is a gang of liars and bullies. They blatantly LIE about everything they are proposing and then they FORCE it all down our throats. We need to make sure we are mobilizing for the next 2 election cycles, people, or we are LOST.

No, there’s not going to be any rationing of health care, except for the fact that everywhere ELSE in the world that this flawed system exists, there IS rationing and people are DYING because of it.

Honestly, what is it going to take to wake people up?

"I wonder how long the MP’s have to wait."

The Obammunist says socialized medicine tax will not apply to union shops which includes all civil servants.

My God! From Wiki: In 2004, he was voted the greatest British prime minister of the 20th century in a poll of professors

And what was Winston Churchill ... chopped liver? Sounds like professors are the same liberal hacks wherever you go.

The joke was that Winston Churchill and Clement Attlee were at adjacent urinals and Winnie said to Clement that “I wish that you would not look at me that way, when you see something large and working well you want to tax it”!

The other day in his little informercial Obama claimed our problem is we don't have enough doctors. Well, duh. It's not that we don't have enough people that want to be doctors. It's just that our public schools don't churn out enough people qualified to get into Med School.

So I guess under the Obama plan we're going to expand the ranks via "affirmative action" to guarantee everybody gets a chance.

Hell, we might not want any of this free care if they're handing degrees to "select" groups regardless of ability.

“I don’t think there’s anything about the public option that would ration care.

Unfortunately for her, Obama already explained how they would ration care, by limiting access to procedures based on quality-of-life and how close you are to dying.

Unfortunately care is being rationed each and everyday right now. Often private insurance companies stand between a patient and a doctor deciding what treatment can be provided,” she said on Fox News Sunday.

Right now you can buy whatever insurance you want, and so you can pick insurance that costs more but pays for more. You can also simply pay for your treatment if the insurance you purchased doesn't cover what you need. Neither of those options seem to exist in the public plan.

“We also have a situation where a lot of people are told that hey can’t have insurance because they have a preexisting condition.”

It wouldn't be "insurance" if you could wait until your house burnt down, and then pay a standard premium and get your house rebuilt. Nobody would own insurance until they got sick if the insurance had to cover pre-existing conditions.

The Obama plan doesn't have this "problem", because they simply force everybody to buy insurance whether they want it or not, or whether they need it or not -- so it doesn't matter if you have pre-existing conditions, because if you do, your care will be paid for by healthing youngsters forced o pay exhorbitant insurance premiums to make up for your treatment.

After all, you certainly don't expect the government insurance is going to charge older people more than younger, and apparently we can't charge people with pre-existing conditions more than those who have a clean bill of health.

We will, however, force smokers, chocolate lovers, fat people, and anybody else who does anything we don't like to pay more for their insurance, so we can charge democratic constitutients less.
