After a "Buy American" provision in the stimulus bill triggered a tit-for-tat with Canada, President Obama is warning fellow Democrats to think twice about another "protectionist" measure in the House-passed climate change bill.
The climate bill that passed the House last week on a 219-212 vote includes a provision to impose tariffs -- starting in 2020 -- on imports from countries that don't have a system for limiting global warming pollution.
The provision was pushed as a way to keep the U.S. competitive with other countries that haven't imposed rules to reduce carbon emissions and promote clean energy.

He forced the EPA to bury a report that showed that CO2 did not correlate into global warming.
Yet he goes around and says that we need to reduce co2 emissions because the CO2 is causing global warming. It is a verifiable LIE.
His credibility on this issue is shot. The hoax is exposed. What we need now is an investigation into those that want to tax Americans for some shoddy science.
By the time obama is done Webster’s is going to have to redefine the word ‘disaster’.

I’m not so sure it is dead in the Senate. The Dems want it, and between now and the next election, may be the only time it can get done. If America, by a miracle, gets fed up with Dems and votes a big change in the house, items like this will be dead. They know this is a once in history opportunity they have. They can squander the opportunity, or they can get it done. I suspect with much arm twisting, it will get done.
All he wanted was a headline trumpeting that he’s against the inevitable tariff war he’s about to set off. What he says has no connection with what he actually plans on doing.

I am not optimistic about Crap and Tax being voted down in the Senate. I fear they will do whatever it takes to get the deal done...I simply do not have any confidence left in Congress after the sham of Porkulus and House Crap&Tax. None.

The first thing I thought of was that obama found a way to save face.
Maybe he’s beginning to wake up to what the polls are telling and he figured out a way to come out looking like the hero for getting the bill he pushed for to not pass after all.
Instead of just dropping it and having people accuse him of breaking campaign promises, he found a way to bail out.
