Kern County is (was) home to Buck Owens and the Buckaroos.

Kern County is north of Los Angeles County. As you travel up the 14 Freeway, you know you’re in Kern because the road surface is suddenly smoother.
Kern is also one of the places in California where it’s possible to get a concealed carry permit.
