Politics: The career of Roland Burris, a political cipher from Illinois who became a U.S. senator and the lamest of ducks, is over. He can now retire into the obscurity he so richly deserves.
Burris accepted the appointment from the corrupt Blagojevich because he's a vain man who had a space to fill on an imposing and already erected tombstone in Oak Woods Cemetery on Chicago's South Side. It proclaims him to be a Trail Blazer.
The writing was on the wall, if not on any campaign contribution checks. Almost two months after his appointment, a Chicago Tribune poll found only 37% wanted him to run for a full term, and a spring filing showed he had raised a whopping $845.
Illinois' senior senator and Majority Whip Dick Durbin, among others, was an early and enthusiastic supporter of the idea of a special election to fill Obama's seat. Then it dawned on party leaders the Democrat brand might be so tarnished that a (gasp) Republican campaigning on a "culture of corruption" might win.
Maintaining control of Obama's seat was paramount for Democrats and their filibuster-proof majority.

Enjoy that 10 mil Roland
Bye bye Winnie the Pooh. (For those not near Illinois media, he sounds just like the character.)
Was it even that long...and for that matter, who are we talking about again?
Well that stinks. I actually liked Burris’ attitude. I wish more GOP senators would stick it out and take the F-U attitude towards their detractors like he did.
So, what are the retirement benefits he is entitled to for his ‘lame duck’ service to our country?
Who are the GOP likelies?
Aaah, he got what he wanted. He’ll forever be known as “Senator Burris” and he should just retire and enjoy it. He’s the epitome of the Peter Principle. Better not tempt fate again, he could end up in the cell next to Blago.
I rather see the 50 most socialist Senators retire from politics tomorrow at full retirement benefits;it would be a bargain for the nation.
Sacrificial lamb.
What happened to his million dollar communications campaign donor, (Stroud head of the only black-owned television station in the Chicago area and president of a telecommunications firm)???!
‘Tomestone’ underestimated the big scum sucking fish in the Chicagoland cesspool.
Alas, he adds to the headstone engraving ... anyway. :/

Roland Burris: Not a Virgin in A Chicago Whorehouse
Though I live nowhere near Chicago, I have been entertained by Roe Conn's voices of "Rollie the Booh". I listen on the internet. This guy is every bit as dirty as any Chicago politician, and maybe more so.
the burris fiasco is a picture of what chicago mating with DC produces...... lying losers
A pension equal to 100% of his Senate salary for the rest of his life ain’t bad for a seat warmer.
The sad truth to this is that he gets no pension out of the deal (not enough time). By the time you considering housing in DC...the parties and functions, he made nothing and got nothing.
The curious thing is how the President will manipulate the election there and trigger the real “replacement”.
I would like to suggest that Blago ought to run....and Republicans should help the guy get into office. Blago in DC....smiling over at Reid and the Administration? It would make a great entertainment situation.
Members of Congress are eligible for a pension at age 62 if they have completed at least five years of service. They are eligible for a pension at age 50 if they have completed 20 years of service, or at any age after completing 25 years of service. The amount of the pension depends on years of service and the average of the highest three years of salary. By law, the starting amount of a members retirement annuity may not exceed 80 percent of his or her final salary. As of October 1, 2000, the average annual pension for members of Congress who have retired under CSRS is $52,464, and $46,932 for retirees under FERS-only or both FERS/CSRS.http://www.senate.gov/reference/common/faq/retirement_for_members.shtml
