All over but the shouting
Waterbury Republican-American ^ | July 10, 2009 | Editorial

Posted on 07/10/2009 7:42:20 PM PDT by Graybeard58

As nature and science continue to take the steam out of the global-warming balloon, the recent G8 summit produced a tentative promise that leading industrialized nations won't let the planet's temperature rise higher than 3.6 F above some arbitrary period before tailpipes.

Since the earth has cooled 1.8 F (1 C) since 1998, it's unlikely action will be required anytime soon. So what do the "leaders" propose to do if on some distant date the planet exceeds their capricious temperature limit?

They didn't say. But warmists' unshakable egoism notwithstanding, humans are powerless to alter the climate, intentionally or otherwise.

How else does one explain falling global temperatures when carbon-dioxide emissions are rising and leading warmists say atmospheric CO2 levels because of mankind's activities are higher than they have been in 600,000 years?

If the G8 leaders' strategy involves yelling "Stop!" at the top of their lungs, then let the shouting begin so Americans can avoid the enormous inconvenience, the needless sacrifice of liberties and the monumental cost of cap-and-trade.

Then they should promise to stop talking.

Well, since it's already 85F in Atlanta, I guess 88 or 89 degrees would warrant a Special Message from the weather bureau.

That special message is: Be glad it's not the usual 95 to 100 degrees it usually is this time of year. Go jump in a pool. Get in the lake.

Have a cold beer. Thank God it's not too hot this year.

85 in july is heaven. I remember in the 1980s when we
had almost sixty days over 100 degrees.
I’m expecting a early winter.

Tet.

I lived downtown through those years and it was hell.
Now I live out in Villa Rica and am happy as a clam.

Since the earth is cooling rather than warming, I reckon we can do nothing and Obama will take credit for averting global crisis and Algore will get another crummy award.

Thank God it's not too hot this year.

Temps here in NE Ohio have been just about perfect--low to mid seventies for about two straight months now, occasional dips into the sixties and cool breezy nights perfect for sleeping with the windows open and the A/C turned off. Haven't been within shouting distance of a record, either high or low, since sometime last winter I'd guess.

Oh, and just enough rain to keep everything green and growing like crazy. Tomato plants never been taller or more loaded. It's a beautiful thing this "global warming."

sorry, but when 'scientists' trot out non-existent measurements like that, I gotta LOL...

We’re having a hot one down here in Texas...over a hundred almost every day for a couple of weeks straight now. High 90’s all through June. Haven’t even gotten to August yet, but I wouldn’t live anywhere else. Love being in the Republic of Texas!
