Excellent article, thanks for posting.
Palin's unconventionality and authenticity is the key to her appeal. She may move contrariwise to elite opinion in Washington and New York, but doing so strengthens her bond with conservative Republicans across the country. The things that make liberals flip-out at the first mention of Palin are exactly the ones that rally conservatives to her side.
Yep.

Palin-hatred is visceral and unrelenting. "Our state was inundated with opposition researchers trying to dig up dirt, the Democratic blogosphere up here making stuff up," Palin told me.
I truly wish she had publicly blamed all this on Obama... where the blame surely lies.
I truly wish she had said before (and it's not too late, as the 18th "ethics violation" accusation has just been raised), publicly, loudly, in front of an assembly of cameras and global media:
President Obama, call off your attack dogs!
To: Jeff Head
Whether she runs or not, she has gotten the rats and snakes to come out of their holes.
Targets are in the open.

I hope Peggy Noonan reads this column. It might wise her up. I doubt it, Noonan seems hellbent on being the new Maureen Dowd, minus the low-rent trollop part.
To: supremedoctrine
That should have read:
They attack her so terribly, because their fear of her is directly proportional to their attacks.
But I guess folks figured it out.

Palin has begun ramping up her criticism of President Obama. "Somebody's got to start asking President Obama questions" Sarah Palin will do what the established party "leaders?" have failed to do. It's not going to be too difficult to unseat those cowards. GO SARAH!!
To: meadsjn
Yes she has. Free-fire zones abound.

I think you have nailed it! The bear is a perfect image.
If Sarah is ever in my area, I will encourage all of my friends to attend. And they will encourage their friends . . .
When Rush Limbaugh dropped into the area, we had 40,000.

Free-fire zones abound.
Democrats are used to walking right up the berm and
smacking their opponents in the face.
That isn’t going to happen with Sarah, she’s already
BTDT.
As she said, “It’s not going to be politics as usual.”
Dems in the wire, lock and rock.

One of the most annoying refrains I heard about her resignation was: "OH BUT YOU JUST DON'T PUT THIS NEWS ON A FRIDAY BEFORE JULY 4TH, YOU GET NO NEWS COV'G BLAH BLAH BLAH"
Meanwhile...it dominated the News the entire weekend and beyond.
