Obama releases Iranian Quds commanders
American Thinker ^ | July 12, 2009 | Rick Moran

This didn't get much play in the media because this is one "outreach" item to Iran Obama would just as soon not be widely circulated; his release of 5 Revolutionary Guard commanders belonging to the elite Quds Force who planned dozens of attacks on Americans in Iraq and who George Bush refused to release.

Andrew McCarthy in NRO has the sickening details:

There are a few things you need to know about President Obama's shameful release on Thursday of the "Irbil Five" - Quds Force commanders from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) who were coordinating terrorist attacks in Iraq that have killed hundreds - yes, hundreds - of American soldiers and Marines.

[...]

President Bush and our armed forces steadfastly refused demands by Iran and Iraq's Maliki government for the release of the Irbil Five because Iran was continuing to coordinate terrorist operations against American forces in Iraq (and to aid Taliban operations against American forces in Afghanistan). Freeing the Quds operatives obviously would return the most effective, dedicated terrorist trainers to their grisly business.

Third, Obama's decision to release the five terror-masters comes while the Iranian regime (a) is still conducting operations against Americans in Iraq, even as we are in the process of withdrawing, and (b) is clearly working to replicate its Lebanon model in Iraq: establishing a Shiite terror network, loyal to Iran, as added pressure on the pliant Maliki to understand who is boss once the Americans leave. As the New York Times reports, Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, put it this way less than two weeks ago: Iran is still supporting, funding, training surrogates who operate inside of Iraq - flat out. . . . They have not stopped. And I don't think they will stop. on Thursday of the "Irbil Five" - Quds Force commanders from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) who were coordinating terrorist attacks in Iraq that have killed hundreds - yes,

This is another unilateral concession by Obama to the thugs in Tehran who just a few days ago sicced the Rev Guards on protestors once again. Every single move in the "new relationship" we are trying to forge with Iran has been made by us. And every single concession we have made has been met with contempt by the Iranian leadership.

One would think that after having been struck on the head a couple of times after offering your hand in friendship, you would take that as a sign of distinct unfriendliness.

Obama obviously believes they are love taps and that if only he could give away enough of the store to the Iranians without reciprocity, they will think him a swell guy and sit down for a spot of tea and abandon their mad plans to build a nuclear bomb.

No doubt the State Department is egging our president on. The striped pants set never met a concession they didn't want to make unilaterally. They are probably telling Obama to ignore the dripping sarcasm and contempt coming from Ahmadinejad after every move we've made because he's just saying those things for domestic consumption. In his heart of hearts, the diplomats are telling the president that Ahmadinejad is an Obamabot just waiting to get out.

We will probably meet every unilateral demand by the mullahs and they will still refuse to speak with us. They know they have a softie sitting on the other side and will wring as much out of Obama's Chamberlainesque policies as they can before smarter heads prevail in Washington.

Ahmadinejhad is laughing at this Kenyan President, while Soetoro prostates himself and begs to be friends. He is a joke.

If the Iranians captured on Iraqi soil (and they were) they should have been executed after being interrogated.

One possibility...

Taliban Says It Captured U.S. Soldier in Afghanistan

If the Taliban's colluding with the Iranians, and our soldier's released shortly...

As all questions asked at Obama’s Press conference are seen before the Conference, that one will be rejected, and the one who wrote it wont be seen inside the Kenyan House gates again.

Be assured that this question will never be asked of The One by the White House Press Corps.

It won't even be thought (by those few who still have the capacity for independent thought, as opposed to reflexive salutes).
