Al Gore got a D in the required Natural Science core course he took at Harvard. And, as I recall, it was widely known among undergraduates as a “gut course.”
I don’t know if he got a D, but he did take a survey science taught by one of the early proponents of Global Warming. He was so inspired that he made it his life’s work. The odd thing is his professor has more or less completely changed his views.
