Procession for a fallen soldier

If you want a dose of inspiration as well as confidence in America, watch this 12 minute film clip. It is moving and beautiful. It shows a 30 mile car procession from the small airport at Peachtree City, Georgia to a funeral home in McDonough, Georgia. Killed in action the week before, the body of Staff Sergeant First Class John C. Beale was returned to Falcon Field in Peachtree City, Georgia, just south of Atlanta, on June 11, 2009. The Henry County Police Department escorted the procession to the funeral home in McDonough, Georgia. A simple notice in local papers indicated the road route to be taken and the approximate time. This was filmed during the procession by a State Trooper.

Nowadays, some think that America no longer respects honor and no longer honors sacrifice. Be it known that there are many places in this land where people still recognize the courage and impact of total self-sacrifice. Georgia remains one of those graceful places. The link below is a short travelogue of that day’s remarkable and painful journey. But only watch this if you wish to have some of your faith in people and in America restored.

I am still having trouble trying to dislodge the lump in my throat.
Please take a few minutes to watch this clip. It is one of the most moving tributes to a fallen hero I have ever seen.

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS. GOD BLESS THE USA!

Perhaps we could at least respect the man and the military enough to get his rank correct. There is no such thing as a Staff Sergeant First Class - there is Staff Sergeant (E6 pay grade) or Sergeant First Class (E7 pay grade.)

We got a really good movie the other day called “Taking Chance”. Softie that I am, I only made it about 3 minutes into the movie befoe my husband put his foot down and turned it off.

It follows a soldier from his death in combat to his hometown burial. Very moving. Needs lots of kleenex.

I apologize for the error. I posted it as I received it. I was so moved by the video that I did not think to proof the statement that came with it.

You are certainly correct and thank you for making that correction. Truly. Our Troops deserve every respect we can possibly give them in life and even moreso in their passing.

GOD bless each and every one of them, and my sincerest thanks to the folks in Georgia who cared enough to line the highway for thirty miles to pay homage and final respects to a Fallen Hero.

Thank you again.

Lula soldier one of 3 Ga. guardsmen killed

By Staff
Maj. Kevin Jenrette, 37, of Lula WASHINGTON - An Army National guardsman from Lula was one of three Georgia guardsmen killed Thursday in action in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon said late Friday Maj. Kevin M. Jenrette, 37, of Lula; Staff Sgt. John C. Beale, 39, of Riverdale; and Spc. Jeffrey W. Jordan, 21, of Rome, died near Kapisa,Afghanistan of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device and small arms fire. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 108th Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition Squadron, 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Georgia Army National Guard in Calhoun.

“Today’s news that Major Kevin Jenrette, SSG John Beale and SPC Jeffrey
Jordan died serving in Afghanistan is a sobering reminder of the dangers our
citizen soldiers face there everyday,” Gov. Sonny Perdue said. “I know the families’ of these Guardsmen have broken hearts and though we can not comprehend the loss they are feeling, Mary and I join them in mourning. I have personally visited with our troops both here and over seas and I am always deeply moved by their dedication to serve others. These men and women go where they are asked on a moment’s notice, leaving behind families and communities that miss them dearly. It is our responsibly to do all that we can to comfort these families and all of the families with a loved one in the line of duty.”

“The recent death of three Georgia Guardsman is very traumatic to our Georgia
National Guard family,” said Maj. Gen. Terry Nesbitt, Georgia’s Adjutant
General. “Their deaths occurring so early in the deployment of the 48th
Brigade underscores the very real challenges facing our Soldiers and the
inherent risks of the mission. We extend our heartfelt condolences and
support to the families of these brave Guardsmen.”

I try never to read or watch these things about fallen soldiers. My son is currently stationed in Iraq and I can’t bear to think of the possibility of him paying the ultimate sacrifice.

I thought this one may be worth watching. It was worth watching!

It is worth watching. In these days when our country is being assaulted from within and we begin to think there is no hope, this clip shows our heart, our soul, and our spirit is still alive and well, and by the looks of these folks, it will stay that way.

My prayers for your son’s safe return. For ALL of the sons and daughters, brothers, sisters, husband and wives currently serving, GOD SPEED.

Thank you. I sent it to approximately 125 people last week and asked that they pass it on as well. IMO, it should go to each member of the US Congress, the occupant of the White House, his entire Administration, and the Supreme Court. Perhaps they will then understand the war on terror and the anger it generates when they let terrorists go who will turn around and kill more Americans.
