Blue Dog: 'No way' House bill could pass By: Patrick O'Connor July 16, 2009 01:58 PM EST

Arkansas Rep. Mike Ross, a key negotiator on health care for moderate Blue Dog Democrats, has warned that "there's no way they can pass the current bill on the House floor. Not even close."

Ross doesn't believe the bill unveiled Tuesday comes close to curtailing the ever-escalating costs of health care spending, particularly for Medicare.

The conservative Arkansas Democrat also objects to the surtaxes included in the bill, saying, "I don't like the idea of raising taxes in the worst economic crisis since World War II."

Democratic detractors are still conferring about what amendments to offer during committee consideration. And the Blue Dogs aren't alone — other caucuses and individual members have raised a multitude of complaints with the legislation.

There is some hope but the arm-twisting and deal making hasn’t even started yet.

I highly suspect their constituents back home, especially the small businessmen and women who contribute, are giving them a piece of their minds, “Stop this madness, or ELSE!”.................

Make sure that people know that the bill, right up front on page 16, answers the “but I want to keep my private health care” crowd by saying “sure, you can keep it - but you CANNOT EVER CHANGE IT or you go on Obamacare”.

Apparently, either Barry/Rahm has not threatened Mr. Ross over the stimulus money his state has recieved or Mr. Ross is holding out for a better deal.

Agree this doesn’t pass a smell test. Could be a point from Democrats to get the public to stop their vigilance and get them looking elsewhere

The “Stimulus” bill was in the works for months before it was passed last winter, even before the election. That’s why the Dems didn’t need to read the thing.

It now appears as though neither health care nor Cap and Trade got the attention that went into the Stimulus bill. Therefore there is no way that the Dems can craft an appropriate bill for either in such a short period of time.

There are a bunch of Dems who are either first-term guys (like Mark Schauer, my Rep) or are in districts where a GOP challenger could win. If Schauer’s experience is any indication, they now must avoid non-scripted public meetings due to the anger in their districts.

“there’s no way they can pass the current bill”

So far, so good. But . . . I get a little nervous when they use the term “current bill.” They leave plenty of room to wiggle out if they get their pork included. Just a thought.

Obama’s DeathCare is the line in the sand for Americans that want to preserve their freedom. In my opinion, we have a government that is out of control, not responsive to the American people, and out to destroy our economy and our country while stealing our freedom. These Elitists are intending to take your freedom and destroy your children and grandchildren’s futures.

I am enraged and livid and angrier than I’ve ever been in my life. How’s your blood pressure?

In my opinion, these domestic terrorists, as I call them now, want total power over your life and want to decide whose worthy of living and who isn’t via denying medical care. Meanwhile, the American Politburo will provide themselves with qualify medical care paid for with taxpayer dollars. I do believe it’s that dire and that dangerous.

Call and email every politician in Congress. Inform everyone you know. The Silent Majority can no longer EVER be silent again. Standing on the sidelines may well mean your life. If you doubt that, read history especially the history of the rise of the Third Reich.

Don’t worry. There’s still plenty of time to buy votes in the name of government tyranny.

Yeah, the blue dogs are starting to distance themselves from the loons. They want their sensible constituents to know that even though they are democrat, that are not rolling with these radical lefties.
