Why should the gay community be allowed to define anything under the law if the majority does not agree with it?

I didn't mean to imply they would actually be defining anything under the law. I merely wanted to express that it's unacceptable for them to try to redefine the word "marriage" under the law. And they should come up with word for what they do that is not "marriage".
