But the $787 billion stimulus package which passed earlier this year on the heels of numerous billion dollar bailout bills and just before a record national budget signals the change that President Obama campaigned on, and it may be a change that we should have given more thought to before voting for a vague idea of change.
What this country is experiencing is a major shift in priorities, demonstrated clearly by the spending decisions in the stimulus but certainly underscored in the Presidents major policy agendas.
Our capitalist nation founded on the ideals of freedom and limited government is shifting to a nation where government is king and producers are punished.
The stimulus dollars go to government projects. The stimulus dollars expand the influence of government. The stimulus dollars offer those in need the opportunity to have their needs met by the government. The jobs created by the stimulus package are government jobs.
This is true, too, with the cap-and-trade scheme recently passed by the House, the bill that proposes to save us from Global Warming (wait, this week we had record lows for July, so maybe cap-and-trade will save us from Climate Change).

Now that we know that TARP and other bailout funds have no oversight and there is no end in sight for CRA loans, the country’s financial might is under continuing, direct, frontal assault, along with our military. It reminds me of the scene in “Twister” when the tornado was backbuilding over the hill on the left. The financial and societal hellmouth we are looking straight into renders me less able to speak every single day.
We do not have an accounting, and 0bama fired an auditor/inspector in Walpin. There will be a day of reckoning. There always is.
$24T in debt, with something upwards of $600T in exposure. Go read Denninger’s Market-Ticker, but not without Tums or whiskey.
William Ayers comes to mind...
25 million
Who they gonna tax when the they kill the private sector?
Well said.
By all accounts, tax receipts are plunging at a fearsome double digit rate.
The combination of Baraq’s dying economy and conservatives going Galt is starving the beast.
25 million
I think William Ayers will find the tables turned, and he will be forced to the head of his own lefty "25 million" to receive his own long delayed just reward.
