I raised several children and not one of them was ever damaged by toys..... what is with this government control over our lives? Can’t parents see the dangerous toys? Or, are their parents anymore? or simply government control?

Actually this is much worse than people think. The new regulations have the potential to shut down a huge number of small businesses who cannot afford the expensive tests the administration is requiring.

Another broadside on our economy.

Do these rules apply to imported toys? As in, from China?

Not holding my breath here.

Btw, I remember Inez, she was empress of all the schools in SC not so long ago.

But we can indoctrinate children to belief homosexuality is a wonderful thing, nevermind the little issue of AIDS, and host of associated deseases.
We can encourage promiscuity and abortion...

Maybe I should reconsider my idea for a fully-functional chainsaw toy for three year olds.

Yes they do. But more importantly, there are are trade conventions full of small mom and pop manufacturers who will be shut down by this. They are all frightened to death over this.

Sometimes I'm left completely flummoxed when I stop to recollect my childhood. How did I ever survive without the timely intervention of this Govt. Safety Queen? It was a childhood filled with strike anywhere matches, lawn darts, slingshots, helmetless bicycle rides, explosive fireworks, skateboarding in the street, a brand new jack knife to show off at school...and at the tender age of fifteen, a .22 rifle and ammunition proudly displayed in a wall mount directly over my little bed. How did I survive? I had two fully capable, competent, and involved parents who taught me right from wrong, and were there with ice packs, calamine lotion, band-aids and Mercurochrome when I made bad choices. Govt. can't replace that.

I used to make my own toys (kites, etc.). Looks like those days are coming back.

If there are any people still having kids, that is.
