I agree. As a long-time (suffering) resident of Massachusetts, I've never had a bad experience with the police. More often then not when I am stopped (not that it's all that often), I get let off with a warning.

Same concept holds true in all facets of life. If you are civil and polite with other people, you will be treated well in return.

I’ve found any state trooper is strict on the other hand i your state.
I found Quincy cops great great guys and were down to earth and quick t respond.
Weymouth however were full of idiots, layabouts and lack professionalism..

HENRY LOUIS GATES JR., HARVARD MAN HE’S BEEN CALLED EVERYTHING FROM A BLACK MESSIAH TO AN INTELLECTUAL GIGOLO. NOW THAT HARVARD HAS HIRED ONE OF THE NATION’S TOP BLACK ACADEMIC STARS TO RESUSCITATE ITS AFRICAN-AMERICAN STUDIES PROGRAM, WE’LL HAVE A CHANCE TO SEE WHO SKIP GATES REALLY IS.
Boston Globe - Sunday, May 12, 1991
Author: John Powers, Globe Staff

EXCERPTS

The issue with his critics was never multiculturalism, Gates believes. It was moola, with an overlay of racism. He wasn’t getting anything close to his rumored $200,000 salary at Duke, but a number of folks believed he was. There was talk about Gates ‘ 32-room mansion (which he doesn’t have) and his Mercedes (which he does). Gates and several of his defenders believe that the salary-and-perks hubbub was code for something else. “It’s the ‘Where’d-that-(n*****)-get-that-Cadillac?’ syndrome,” he says.t at Duke. I’m surprised he stayed as long as he did.”

Gates , who has a wife and two daughters, enjoyed the surroundings at Duke, the leafy Gothic campus and the rolling Carolina countryside. He’d been concerned about going to shopping malls with his wife, who is white, but found no problems there. His colleagues in the English department were collegial. And Gates ‘ students found him engaging and challenging. “He’s an unequivocally nice man,” says Benjamin Pratt, an undergraduate. “Everyone likes him when they meet him. And he’s everything he’s cracked up to be as a scholar.”

(snip)

Yet his critics view Gates as something of an academic Music Man — breezing into town, ordering up the band uniforms, then catching the milk train out. “I’m portrayed as some kind of intellectual gigolo flying around the country,” Gates says. “I have this image of going off and taking a new job every year. Well, I was at Yale for 10 years before I went to Cornell. I was at Cornell for five years before I went to Duke. I’ll be at Harvard a goodly while.”

It wasn’t the money that attracted Gates to Cambridge. Anyone who has ever labored in John Harvard’s ivy vineyard can tell you that they don’t overpay the human resources. Ask outgoing president Derek Bok, who makes decidedly less than John Silber, his Boston University counterpart. “Some people wrote that Harvard bought me,” Gates says. “Ridiculous. You don’t move for money at my level, because the university always matches what you’re offered. It had nothing to do with money at all. If I felt I could have built an African- American studies program at Duke, I would have stayed.”

Gates ‘ salary at Harvard is undisclosed. “One thing that is not discussed in polite society around here is the terms and salary of someone’s appointment,” says Gomes. “But one assumes that a deal had to be cut. And I assume he is making more than I am.”

SKIP GATES HAS A DREAM\ CAN HIS STELLAR HARVARD TEAM MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE\ IN HOW AMERICANS THINK ABOUT RACE AND CLASS?
Boston Globe - Thursday, March 7, 1996
Author: Sally Jacobs, Globe Staff

EXCERPT

It is a level of success that has spawned jealousy as well as admiration within academia. When Gates moved from Cornell University to Duke in 1990, the papers dubbed him a Marxist , then exulted over rumors of a six-figure salary, a mansion and twin Mercedeses. There was talk about his wife, Sharon Adams, who is white and who was also given a job, teaching ceramics at Duke.

Asked what kind of car he in fact drives, Gates admitted to a Toyota Land Cruiser and a blue Mercedes 300, saying, “Some people do coke. I do cars.” He thought for a minute and then declared that the question would not have been asked “if you were doing a story on a white professor.” Told that this reporter routinely asks about cars, Gates snapped back with an expletive.

‘Tis a pity too, given Massachusetts’ role in our nation’s founding. Sadly my own home state of PA is headed down the same path.

Anytime the Left wants to distract the Right away from the Task at Hand, they only need to throw out a scathing insult at the Military or the Police and we will chase it for days. By the time we get back on track, they will have cleaned out our wallets bank accounts and maxed out all of our credit cards...

I had to live there for a bit in MA and thankfully I got out of the place.
It really is a shame.

As for PA
I was up there 3 months ago and I do love it in the western part and around Lancaster county , Gettysburg(love history) etc.

The only bad part in your state I thought was Philly.
City of brotherly love, not a chance, I saw no love what so ever

I was in Mass a little over 10 years when my brother was stationed at Hanscom AFB. Even then, he bought a house in Nashua, NH and commuted each day due to property taxes.

I went to Gettysburg College and in many ways, still consider it the best four years of my life.

When I got out of the Army about nine years ago, I opted to live in the deep south and haven't regretted it.

Gates was brought into Harvard because the African Studies department was considered to be substandard and lacking in scholar.

Harvard was criticized for firing a couple of professors in this department who by the way were quickly hired by Princeton.

If you look at his work and books you will find that he is not an out and out racist. He is also on record saying that he wanted to get more whites to take courses in the black studies corriculum to which he was highly criticized by his colleagues.

I live down here and got my wife out of MA.
Her view is that it is the best move she has ever done getting out of MA.
She said she never wants to go back as it breaks her heart seeing her old state look like a hell hole

place BOTH our hands outside the window.

Armed highway "tax collectors" used to prefer both your hands up.

I am thankful to those that verbally abuse and are impolite to cops and take the hits. Someone needs to push back. A few lawsuits keep the good cops nice and polite and the bad cops looking for work. It's the cops that should be required by law to be nice and polite, not people exercising free speech while standing on their own property.

Do any of you think Obama wanted this little gem to be one the last questions asked so it would get more attention today than the real subject of last night's staged event?

Indeed, yes! If we had a balanced MSM in this country one of them would go and ask Ms. Red-dress (on the record) whether her final question was coordinated and staged by the White House. It sure as hel* seemed that way to any unbiased observer.

This was all staged to provide Pres. O the opportunity to give his own version of "racism is still present in America" diatribe and show him to be concerned and a victim, too. One word for this entire event: disgusting.

He is also on record saying that he wanted to get more whites to take courses in the black studies ...

well ... wouldn't that be in his own self-interest (to get students into classes in his department).
And, besides, what does that have to do with Gates screaming "racist, racist, racist" at a police officer that is called to his domicile on a report of a break in?

Just pointing out that Gates is not your garden variety race hustler. The ones he replaced at Harvard are your unrepentant race hustlers. It looks like he is taking a page out of the Al Sharpton book in this case.

I am also trying to give more information on the story which is what this website is all about.

There were at least a dozen witnesses to this incident. If the cop lied he will be fired. So far all of the witnesses have backed up the cop.

I agree. These people are nothing but trouble and always will be no matter what. Another reason this country is so fantastic and they now ruin it.
