{ San Francisco Supervisor } Daly sends his family out of S.F.
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 7/24/9 | C.W. Nevius

Posted on 07/24/2009 7:46:39 AM PDT by SmithL

Supervisor Chris Daly, the sworn enemy of gentrification in the city, announced Wednesday that he has bought a house in the suburb of Fairfield and has moved his wife and two children there. The revelation brought out his critics, who highlighted the extreme irony of him falling victim to his own legislative efforts to encourage the building of low-income housing at the expense of middle-class housing.

Daly, who was 28 when he was elected to the board in 2000, has been in the vanguard of far-left politics since he arrived from Maryland in 1993. He has opposed legislation that would encourage tenancy-in-common condominium conversions, which middle-class housing advocates say would allow young families to buy a place in the city, and even called for a three-year moratorium on all condo conversions. In addition, he has shown little interest in attacking the issues of chronic drunkenness and violence in the Tenderloin, the kind of quality-of-life issues that make the city less family friendly.

And now he's announced that he is moving his family to the suburbs. (Actually, although he says he still lives in his home in San Francisco, tax assessor records indicate that Daly and his wife, Sarah Low, have purchased two homes in Fairfield, one in February and one in April.)

"Here's a guy who has not only consistently voted against working-class families in San Francisco, he's introduced legislation that has hurt them," said fellow Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier, who has taken her fair share of abuse for owning a second home in the Wine Country. "How invested in the city are you when you sit on the board for a few years and then decide you don't like how the city looks and move your family out?"

“suburb of Fairfield”

Hardly a Bay Area “suburb.” It has a population over 100K and sits more than 50 miles north of SF. This guy is well out and away from the city.

The news here is that the councilman is married-to a woman.

Once word of that leaks out, he’s toast.

Someone better start trailing him to see if he spends too much time at his wife and kids house and loses his San Francisco residency. Keeping a cheap apartment in the district while living somewhere else is an old trick by elected officials.

Thank God he left Maryland...now if we could just encourage all the other Socialists in Balt. City, Balt. Co., PG County and Monkey County to follow him to his Utopia Maryland might have a chance to survive.

Wonder if he has any job opportunities for a philandering member of an Irish Band?

Typical liberal. Screw up the place you live, leave when you finished screwing it up, then screw up the next place you live.

If he’s moved his wife and kids 50 miles away, is it possible that he wants to spend a little time with someone else’s wife?

There is an insidious class of the far left I call the “drive-by leftists”. They move into an area, make all sorts of demands for negative changes, then when those changes happen, they move somewhere else, leaving their pestilence behind.

This happens on a small scale, and a large scale.

One example on a small scale, was in a quiet, suburban neighborhood, where the troublemakers moved into a home. Within a month, they demanded speed humps in the neighborhood, which didn’t have a problem with speeders. They also set up a wife swapping club which caused a half dozen divorces.

Then they organized an HOA, set up as their own private dictatorship, so they could order their neighbors around. They also called city inspectors to cite their neighbors with large fines for everything from weeds to “barking dogs”, that were all dogs, because they hated dogs. The HOA was so obnoxious that several personal lawsuits were filed against the other fools on its board.

And so the “toxic leftist neighbors” moved out, avoiding a lawsuit against them, but leaving bad blood all around, neighbor against neighbor, people out thousands of dollars paying fines for petty zoning violations, and generally screwing up the place.

About as appreciated as a large infestation of disease carrying roof rats.

“The news here is that the councilman is married-to a woman.”

Keep in mind that this is San Francisco, so “woman” could mean a variety of things.

THREE houses in the Bay Area? This "champion of the working class" is worth millions.

I would have to say that he was elected to that office and the people out there deserve want they get. At what point do people start to question the common sense of the people they elect.

Where I live in Ohio our local city council brings up a income tax from time to time. They use “citizen groups” to recommend it, and “promise” to lower property taxes when it goes into effect (a lie because the only way property taxes go away is when they expire). When the income tax appears on the ballot it gets defeated by over 75% and 3 council members get voted out. Happens every time they try it.

I’ve often wondered if lefties were organized in their destruction.

They seem to be everywhere now mucking it all up.

What does Daly do to earn enought to afford three houses?

Well, he's married to a person who currently has a woman's name, anyway.
