Statement by U. S. CBP Commissioner Jayson Ahern on Death of Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas
U.S. Customs and Border Protection ^ | July 24, 2009

Washington - “Last night, Border Patrol Chief Daavid Aguilar and I were devastated to learn about the senseless killing of one of our young Border Patrol Agents, Robert Rosas. Agent Rosas’ murder is a tragic reminder of the ever-present dangers CBP officers, Air & Marine and Border Patrol agents face as they protect our nation’s borders.

“By his service and sacrifice, Agent Rosas joins a long line of law enforcement officers and agents who have served—and died—in the law enforcement tradition of honor, valor and dedication to duty.

“The FBI, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, our brothers and sisters in ICE, and the government of Mexico all are working with CBP in an international effort to locate and bring to justice the perpetrators of this atrocious act.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rosas family at this time —and always—and they have our solemn promise that we will do everything possible to find—and bring to justice—those responsible for this heinous crime.”

I think that some in Mexico are, but the Calderon government has been going after them with armies. Wish he’d put some of his troops on the border in places he hasn’t yet. Cd. Juarez has 5,000 troops in the streets, and could use more.

Mexico has 5000 troops on the border and this fraud in the whitehouse is looking the otherway while OUR BP agents are getting killed. I hope they go after him next.

Perhaps you misunderstood me. The Mexican troops are in Cd. Juarez and elsewhere to clamp down on the narcotraficantes. They are cooperating with our DEA. They are not there to challenge the 35,000 or so soldiers we have at Fort Bliss, a couple of miles away.
