LOS ANGELES--The director of the new movie "G.I. Joe: the Rise of Cobra" thinks President Obama is "a Real American hero," but apparently wants Republicans to stay home.....
When it comes to selling "G.I. Joe" outside the U.S., the message is "this is not a George Bush movie -- it's an Obama world," director Stephen Sommers said. "Right from the writing stage we said to ourselves, this can't be about beefy guys on steroids who all met each other in the Vietnam War, but an elite organization that's made up of the best of the best from around the world."
Sommers, the director of such genre films as "the Mummy Returns" and "Van Helsing," is hoping that the film will appeal to international markets, where action films "often earn 60% or more of their ticket sales [but] rah-rah American sentiment doesn't play well,"....
As a result, overseas advertising is playing up scenes from other countries and downplaying anything that could be seen as American patriotism.

So does that mean that 3/4 of the film consists of the President apologizing to Cobra Commander and Destro for "American arrogrance" and explaining how Serpentor is really just "some guy from the neighborhood"?

Ah, crap. I was planning on bringing the wife and five sons to see this movie but now I won’t. No sense in throwing away $100 in tickets and junk food at the theater.

How is it possible for this "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity" to "defeat" "bad guys" if it's an "Obama World" where there are no bad guys?
These limp wristed twits shouldn't even be making a GI Joe action movie. It doesn't make sense that they would. They don't believe in military action against "bad guys".
It means Cobra will be a transnational corporation which oppresses the poor, ruins the environment, is 95% white, speaks English, and is driven by greed, probably with some connection to oil companies, logging, power companies, American defense contractors, and whaling activities.
Answering this global threat will be an elite international team under a global directive (a super-duper UN), consisting of a diverse set of very diverse operatives with a diverse spectrum of training. Black guy in wheelchair, Asian woman in tights, 1337 computer haxor from Russia, gay espionage expert from India, smart-ass American woman who starts off annoying and stupid but eventually learns from her international peers to be an important member of the team, ex-SAS woman with armpit hair and 5:00 shadow, devout Muslim female who is a skilled sniper, red-blooded traditional American Christian male with old-fashioned hateful political attitudes who turns out to be a Cobra spy, etc.
The American president will be a wise minority of some sort and will support the super international effort against Cobra, while a bunch of old white guys in suits from Congress (with faux-opaque connections to oil and defense companies) will mettle (but ultimately will be convicted of crimes). Cobra’s efforts to make global temperatures rise, enslave the brown people, and turn endangered species into cosmetics will be stopped, with the super-duper GI-JOE computer system signaling that global temperatures are now dropping and socialist leaders prospering thanks to the speedy efforts of the pseudo-UN. Obligatory fake satellite image time-accelerated to show shrinking and subsequent regrowth of rainforests will close the film.
Well that’s easy enough...this film is on my Boycott list. I’ve got better things to spend my rapidly shrinking post tax dollars on.
