The Web and the nets are agog with wonder today at the latest attempt at thought policing by a White House and a President that seems to be extraordinarily sensitive to even the appearance of criticism.
The latest evidence of this is news that Linda Douglass, Mr. Obama's point person for communications on health care, and her video (posted on the WhiteHouse.gov website) urging all "concerned citizens" -- we assume she means those citizens who voted for Barack Obama -- to send her and the other party apparatchiks staffing what passes for the White House Communications Office these days so-called "fishy" emails that are critical of ObamaCare or maybe even just the President, in a general sense.
We wonder at the integrity of Ms. Douglass, who at one time purported to be a nonpartisan journalist in the employ of ABC News prior to jumping ship for the Obama presidential campaign in the spring of 2008. If ever there were a question about mainstream media partisanship exercised in support of the then-Senator from Illinois during that campaign, it has effectively been put to rest by the number of one-time journalists and members of the MSM who are now members of the President's staff.
We also wonder at the wisdom of such a request as asking "concerned citizens" to report on the private speech, expressed in email, of other apparently not-so-concerned-citizens. Or at least, of those citizens who apparently haven't pledged personal allegiance to Barack Obama and his policies. How ironic that those who disagreed with George W. Bush and his policies for 8 years tended to engage in self-congratulation and proud declarations that "dissent is the highest form of patriotism." Apparently, it's only patriotic when it comes from the so-called "progressive" front.

That’s too funny!!
Douglas has got to go.

Sounds like she is the new Disinformation czar.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 1984. I love it!
Hey, now...what’d the Dear Leader ever do to deserve being lumped in with Larry, Moe and Curly? ;-)
This is the poster that needs to be plastered all over American walls and telephone poles!
Stasi, Gestapo, KGB or Obamabots. All the same.
That right there is perfect!
I’m amazed at the hypocrisy in their complaining about so-called “unruly mobs” and at their “send us your fishy emails” nonsense. Imagine if the last president (Bush) had asked for people to send him “fishy” or suspicious conversation. Good Lord, the howling from the Left would have been stupendous.
Baghdad Bob with Boobs........sort of.....
This request would demand any information received which contains a reference to the person's name, address (either physical or electronic), or opinion on the health care issue. The request would also ask for the statutory authority for the White House to solicit, receive, or store the information.
Information contained in the header, body, or attachments of emails would be subject to the request.
Since there are people with specialized knowledge of almost all subjects on this board, possibly someone with the ability could prepare a sample email request for this purpose.
I believe there is a 20-day time limit for responding to properly submitted foia request so if enough people are concerned about this invasion of privacy, Ms Douglass could be kept too busy to run her propaganda department. Considering this is an ongoing program, a new foia request might be in order every 10 to 15 days.
It would be hilarious but for the hypocrisy of it... remember "dissent is patriotic?"
Weren’t there other political figures in the past who got into trouble for compiling an “enemies list”?
I believe this is one of the things that was used to brand Joe McCarthy and Richard M. Nixon. Of course, other Presidents and Senators had “enemies lists”, but they were smart enough to keep them concealed.
This now failing nascent obama regime is not that astute.
