The Sunday Morning Talk Show thread is up!
Thanks for the ping, and ready for the CDJ!
FOX, among other things, will talk a bit about the VA “end of life” booklet.
I'd like to see somebody on the Republican side make a drawing of how private health care insurance will work if/when it becomes portable and follows the employee. After a few years, that will be wee weed up pretty badly.
Interesting that Wallace has been bragging about 'discovering' this book. He must listen to Rush.
By now, many of us have heard about the TOTUS video celebrating Ramadan.
What you may not know is that on Saturday August 22, the White House uploaded to their YouTube website separate WH video productions celebrating Ramadan in each of the following languages:
Punjabi
This great attention to Muslim language detail and Ramadan celebration via the WH YouTube website is ironic for several reasons. My own personal pet peeve is that the WH press conference where Major Garrett questioned Robert Gibbs about the White House email scam was never posted to the site. Every time Gibbs is particularly asinine during the WH briefings, the most transparent administration in history refrains from publishing the videos.
Your tax dollars hardly working.
Oh well- maybe Rush will talk a bit more about it. Sadly I missed his show a lot this week.
Morning AB, thanks for the thread! Made it this time. Looks like an interesting couple of months coming up!
If you expect this administration to put out information to the public that was neutral and honest, without spin and solely designed to educate the people, well, then let's just say you'd have a l-o-n-g wait.
Obama and the dems accused the Bush administration of being secretive and closed mouth, yet here once more, is another example of where their pretty talk to get elected is just another lie, and they're worse than what they condemned.
........and as usual there isn’t anything worth giving these stations ratings! Don’t watch!
What do we have to do to get rid of McCain...and his daughter?
Good morning, Alas!
Start with a pint of strawberries.
I have read that VA booklet, and have some experience with the much more sensitive, shall we say, booklet called “Five Wishes”, which also guides one in making an informed living will or advanced directive.
The VA booklet is horrible. It is long, tedious to read, and leads the reader to believe that life should not be worth living in many conditions that are just difficult - not terminal!!!
If an elderly person in a VA hospital is being told to answer the questions, read to him by a ‘helpful’ social worker or even a volunteer, he will be very likely to agree with the most depressing and negative answers possible. Having visited elderly veterans in a VA hospital, it appears to me that they do not seem to have a very cheerful optimistic attitude in their general demeanor. I can only imagine how depressed they would be when they are more or less being told to choose to vacate their bed for the good of the country’s balance sheet.
I applaud President Bush and his advisers for discontinuing the use of “Your Life - Your Choice.”
I usually watch those conferences live, so I didn’t know they had been scrubbed from the site. (I can’t bear to go there, as it is just too depressing to see those people’s photos in the Oval Office, especially since he is STILL using the rug that Laura Bush designed. That is one of the many small things this small man does which irritate the heck out of me, nevermind his campaign to destroy the country!)
LOL.
