Sebastian Faulks risks Muslim anger after calling Koran the 'rantings of a schizophrenic'

Sebastian Faulks, the best-selling author, has risked angering Muslims after claiming the Koran has "no ethical dimension" and dismissing the words of Muhammad as the "rantings of a schizophrenic".

He said the Islamic holy scripture was a "one-dimensional book" that has little literary value, and added that when compared with the Bible its message seemed "barren".

Faulks, who is known for his meticulous research, has recently read a translation of the Koran to help him write his latest novel, A Week in December, to be published in September.

Unlike his previous historical works, such as Birdsong and Charlotte Gray, his new offering is set in contemporary London.

The cast of characters include the wife of Britain's youngest MP, a female Tube driver, a hedge fund manager and a Glasgow-born Islamic terrorist recruit named Hassan al Rashid.

It was during research for al Rashid that he began delving into the Koran, which Muslims believe to be divine guidance passed to Muhammad through the angel Gabriel.

In an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, Faulks said: "It's a depressing book. It really is. It's just the rantings of a schizophrenic. It's very one-dimensional, and people talk about the beauty of the Arabic and so on, but the English translation I read was, from a literary point of view, very disappointing."

Faulks claims that the Koran offers no interesting stories compared with the Bible, and simply tells its readers to believe in God or "burn forever".

Do not know who Sebastian Faulks is but I agree.
The koran isn’t fit for toilet paper.

Actually, I was expecting someone to pitch a fit over the differences in spelling (Faulks v. Fawkes). I was just happy to see that there are still some bomb throwers left in GB.

The Koran is the low class sand rats and desert jackal’s “art of war.” The author is correct; there is “no social redeeming value” in either Islam or Koran!

Islam is a military and quasi-political movement that camouflages itself as a religion. However, as with Dictatorships, Fascism and Communism or other such command and control systems, a social tool is used to stealthily control the populace. Americans are deliberately misled regarding this extremist movement disguised as a religion; which should be banned on its face due to the primary tenets of hate and violation of codified laws applied to any individual/group behavior which declares and promotes violence, advocates unlawful activity among members and conducts business activities in violation of Civil, Human and Constitutional Rights.

Regarding the filth of Islam; there is no more to this religion than howling at the moon.

And in a move that is likely to anger many Muslims, he calls into question the worth of Muhammad.
Translation: Since you dare to question the pedophile prophet, serving our god, Lucifer, I wouldn’t give a nickle for your life.

Considering the UK is the same country that banned Michael Savage, it would not surprise me that Faulks could be charged under hate crimes laws.

And Canada is just as nutty with the oppression of free speech

I believe that MoHAMmid was high on whatever the popular drug was back then and went to his special cave to smoke/drink/snort it and came back with some crazy stories about his hallucinations. I wouldn’t be suprised if he had a gay lover there with him and they concocted this crap together.

The koran is a load of crap!

There is nothing quite so unforgivable as the truth.

All the non-Muslims the apologist cites as praising the Koran were politicians. They could have had an agenda underlying their words. What about literary critics? Do any find the Koran an artful work?

I’ve never heard it called anything but a mish-mash.

Exactly. It’s stupid to try to accommodate muzzies just as it is dumb for conservatives to try to appease the libtards.

Both groups spew hatred not because of anything that critics say but rather because of what the critics ARE.

I’ll go one step further: conservatives who worry about so-called “birthers” causing the Right to be labeled crazy are wasting their energy. No matter what we say, the Left regards us as completely insane just for supporting the Constitution and fighting for individual liberties.

The highest form of the exercise of free speech is to not indulge in it, if there is the slightest possibility that an utterance offend any listener, other than Right Wing Extremist whack job straight male Christian Conservatives, who need to be shouted down and put in their place, for the good of Society. /Lib-speak>

His harem of sheep find that highly offensive. The goats are also displeased. Both claim that he never laid a finger on a ram.
