Statement Re: Sarah Palin’s attendance at Aug. 27 events

Alaskans for Parental Rights is looking forward to having former Governor Sarah Palin join us this evening for the kick-off event for our initiative to protect the right of parents to be involved in the abortion decisions of their teenage daughters.

Media reports in the last 24 hours have quoted the Governor’s spokeswoman as saying that Mrs. Palin never committed to attend the event, and that she will not be present this evening.

We have been in regular communications with the Governor’s staff over the last several weeks. We were assured that Governor Palin was personally aware of this evening’s event, and that she twice confirmed her intent to participate.

We look forward to Governor Palin honoring her commitment to attend, and we appreciate her public support of our effort to pass this important voter initiative to protect the rights of parents and the health of teenage girls.

Alaskansforparentalrights.org states Sarah Palin's staff did confirm Palin's participation and they do expect to see her at their event.

Another disconnect with Palin's staff?? How does this happen more than once? This emerging pattern is disappointing.

Agreed, and she needs to get on this quickfast and in a hurry. Once is a screwup, twice or more is incompetennce somewhere.

re: This emerging pattern is disappointing.

Yes it is. Or, very suspicious! Sadly, in today's world, especially of politics, you have to maintain a very high level of suspicion.

I wouldn't put it past someone on the anti-Palin team to set up bogus appearances, appearances that she knows nothing about and obviously won't be keeping.

Whatever the reason behind this emerging pattern it needs to be investigated, quickly and thoroughly. Face it, if she's not the person we think she is cracks will start to appear at some point. I am not suggesting that is the case, but things like this need to be nipped in the bud.

If she is to be the target of dirty tricks, and my goodness why wouldn't she, then a series of apparently missed engagements would be a great place to start.

She is still my choice, even if her staff was responsible for these apparent missteps. In fact, a few slip ups along the way will show us how she handles such things, and that's an integral part of any campaign.

I agree with you. In the grand scheme of things, this is a simple task to get straight compared to other tasks. I don't get it.

The appearance speaks volumes and it doesn't leave anyone with a confident impression.

...I’d love to be on her staff! This kind of crapola wouldn’t happen.

I agree - always the HIGH probablity anti-Palin forces are at work. Remember the Denver trans-gender freak rat who damaged the DNC rat house.

CNN Political Ticker:

While the organization continues to bill Palin on its Web site as the top speaker at the kickoff for a statewide signature drive, a spokeswoman for the former governor says Palin had never agreed to participate, nor was she even asked.

“To this very moment, she has never been asked to give a speech at a public venue,” Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton told CNN.

Instead, Stapleton said, event organizers had invited Palin to attend a private fundraiser for the organization — but she declined the invitation because of prior out-of-state plans.

“The governor notified the group that she is out of town, but would make a donation,” Stapleton said. “And she did also mention that since people have already begun signing the petition, she could sign the petition when she returns in the near future.”

While a source places blame for the mixup on the group, saying Palin has been “set up a few times before” by Alaska Family Council President Jim Minnery, such scheduling snafus appear to have become a regular occurrence for Palin, one of the Republican Party’s most popular figures.

Minnery has not yet responded to CNN’s request for comment.

Sarah has been a “no show” at other events. Evil plot by demo agitators? Or what?

I would think that if that’s the case then the explanation will be coming out quite quickly. It certainly did in the Colorado situation.

The thing that would bother me most would be for them to delay in addressing the situation. Even if they have absolutely no idea what the facts are I would have her out front saying so and offering assurances that it’s being handled and the facts will be known in short order.

Shouldn’t be any problem at all to track this down. There’s only a couple of places it could fall apart. Actually, it will easier to sort it out if it was a slip up on the part of her and/or her staff. If it’s a dirty tricks thing they will make every effort to cover it up.

I’m smelling a set-up.

Sarah Palin is not some flighty bimbo.

Mine too. I agree with you. This disconnect needs to be investigated to find out the source.

Maybe you are right about a political connection with these false starts. I wouldn't put it past the "other side" (Liberals) or the "other-other side"(GOP Elitists, Romney, etc.)" to undermine Palin's leadership.

We need to know who is responsible and expose them.

Instead of posting hit pieces why don’t you look into it first?

You claim that she is a no show, she says she isn’t, until someone proves different I am not going to get excited every time someone claims something about her, having seen a years worth of false accusations about her repeatedly turn out to be just that, false.

Woody Allen sued
a firm that used his image
without his say so.

Sarah's lawyer sent
papers to the blogger creep
for spreading rumors.

Her lawyer needs to
crack down hard on anyone
using her name or

image without her
permission. Seems like that would
put an end to this.
