Jeff Gammage had a very interesting story in today’s Philadelphia Inquirer as to what former State Sen. Vince Fumo can look forward to as he serves his 55-month sentence at a federal facility in Kentucky. He neglected to mention Fumo’s party, a simple oversight I’m sure

Vincent Fumo - DEMOCAT (& career CRIMINAL)
Fumo was the ranking Democratic Member of the Senate Appropriations Committee
In 1974, Fumo, along with three associates, was the target of a 44 count indictment for mail fraud. The four men, who included the Majority Leader of the State Senate, the head of the Democratic City Executive Committee, and the Chief Clerk of the State House were accused of helping convicted Senator Cianfrani, add 33 ghost employees to the state payroll. At the time, Fumo was an assistant to Camiel in charge of patronage.
In 1978, Fumo was convicted by a jury of 15 counts. However, a federal judge overturned the conviction in 1981 after motions by the defense to acquit
Chris Freind will be on tonight, we’ll all mourn together.
Doctors for convicted former state Sen. Vincent Fumo say he is addicted to prescription drugs, including the anti-anxiety drug Xanax.
According to documents unsealed Friday, Fumo told a doctor he took larger doses of the drugs than prescribed and abused alcohol to cope with his corruption trial.
Fumo was convicted earlier this year of defrauding the state Senate, a South Philadelphia nonprofit and a seaport museum of millions of dollars.

Former State Sen. Vincent J. Fumo appeared fit and in good spirits last night as he joined scores of friends and family at a South Philadelphia restaurant to celebrate his recent marriage engagement.
He and fiancee Carolyn Zinni slipped almost unnoticed into Popi’s shortly after 7 p.m. as Dennis J. Cogan, his defense attorney, drew away the attention of a throng of journalists with some loud joking.
But Fumo was quickly surrounded at the door of the Italian restaurant, and he answered a few questions.
“It’s a celebration of our engagement, and we’re turning a page,” Fumo said, sporting fresh color in his face, a stark contrast to his pale appearance during his federal corruption trial.
Asked what he thought of the critics who argue that his 55-month prison sentence is too short, he responded: “I’d like those people to come with me for half the time and get their assessment.”
As for a rumor that he had secretly married yesterday, he laughed and said no.
“In this dress?” Zinni joked. She had a point - it was a little bluish cocktail number.
Among the many notables who arrived and tried to wade through the scrum of reporters and TV cameras were longtime friend and associate Councilman Frank DiCicco, City Commissioner Marge Tartaglione and her daughter, State Sen. Christine Tartaglione, Council President Anna C. Verna, Philadelphia Gay News publisher Mark Segal, Comcast executive David L. Cohen, and Geno’s Steaks owner Joey Vento.

Legal and political insiders suggest that in addition to a romantic gesture, Fumo could be trying to ensure that (fiance Carolyn) Zinni, who runs a dress shop in Springfield, Delaware County, will be the one to handle his business affairs while he is in federal prison. Some have speculated that a quickie wedding could allow Fumo to receive conjugal visits, but a Bureau of Federal Prisons spokeswoman said yesterday that there are no conjugal visits for inmates, spousal or otherwise.
