....Join Senator John Kerry and discuss the issues at an open Town Hall in Somerville, MA. The seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early to make sure you get in!
With so much interest in the health care debate, were sure there will be many questions on that, but you are welcome to ask about any issue you would like. Our economy still needs to work better for all Americans, the Senate will take on the issue of energy reform and global climate change in the fall, and our foreign policy still faces many, many challenges. You can bring up those or any other issue at this open Town Hall.
The details:

Kerry’s big moment. The Swimmer is finally dead, now its Mr. Silver Star’s turn!
Speaking of time, when does the stench return to DC?
“...Before I get to your questions, let me remind you that I served in Vietnam and received the best healthcare money could buy...”
“The seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early to make sure you get in! “
Hmmm. How much you want to bet the paid-by-ACORN astroturfers will be the first ones in line and the only ones allowed in for the TV cameras?
Get there at noon with a collapsable chair and plenty of water, snacks, etc. and bring your video cameras!!!!
IOW, the unions and ACORN will stack the audience!!
LOL! Kerry is so tedious when he speaks. Hopefully the moron lib kid from Univ of FL will show up and there will be another “don’t tase me bro” moment.
I think you are 100% correct. John Kerry doesn't have the guts to really hold a public townhall. ACORN and other Obama groups will be the only ones allowed in most likely.
John Kerry lacks courage. He is afraid.
Somerville - Kerry must be pissed. Who picked that locale I wonder?
...oh, and John Kerry WAS in Vietman...
Any takers, lol?
>>>> Speaking of time, when does the stench return to DC? <<<<
I think Kerry puts in a slavish work week on Capitol Hill from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday morning.
1673 days since Hanoi John Effin Kerry promised, on national TV, to sign form SF-180 and release his military records.
Will he be appearing with Manny Ortez?
Nobody else will get within a quarter mile of this meeting.Count on it.
I think I can make it. How can I get a ‘don’t taze me bro’ t-shirt in a hurry?
Great news. When you find out let me know...I want one too.
Bring video cameras, FReepers!!! :-)
This is interesting.
There isn’t a huge amount of philosophical difference between Somerville and Cambridge and only a small difference in annual household income (according to the 2000 Census data) but having spent much time in both, there is a considerable sociological difference between Somerville and Cambridge.
Somerville is clearly a blue-collar town, and Cambridge is not, differences in annual household income not withstanding. I think you would find much more rank and file union in Somerville, and fewer ivory tower types. I don’t think this was a random choice of locations at all.
I am willing to bet money citizens of Somerville voted demographically and overwhelmingly exactly the way Cambridge did in the last presidential election. Perhaps the Kerry handlers wanted people who held the political views of those people in Cambridge, without the niceties of the cheese-and-wine Cambridge crowd.
Always keep in mind that the unions make out big from health care reform. 80 cents out of each health care dollar expected to be spent on health care by unions (for large claims in UAW and other union employees) is removed from the union burden plate under HR2300. In Y1 this comes out to something in the area of 10 Billion Dollars.
Unions say they need the bailout to stay solvent. The union has many different issues with its health care coverage, first and foremost, promising a Cadillac in healthcare to everyone of their members over the years.
Those exorbitant costs were simply passed on to the employer, who lo and behold, had to pass them on to customers in a variety of forms ranging from more expensive cars for the same quality or the same price car with lower quality. American car shoppers voted overwhelmingly with their hard earned dollars, and generally buy Japanese or Korean over American union-built.
Bottom line, that my friends, is 10 Billion Dollars that the unions can use for...er...ahem..OTHER purposes, whatever THOSE might be. They say it will make their pension funds more solvent. But we know the truth. That free money is probably going to be for “other” purposes.
Most likely political money.
Elections do have consequences.
