Feminist Camille Paglia: Birthers Have a Point

(snip)

Paglia responded:

First of all, I reject the idea that the 'birther' campaign is motivated by racism. There may be racism among it, but there are legitimate questions about the documentation of Obama's birth certificate. I'm sorry, I've been following this closely from the start. To assume that all those signs about the birth controversy were motivated by racism, that is simply wrong. She continued, explaining she first came on the scene in the 1990s and has dealt with cries of sexism and homophobia, calling such battle cries "emotional" triggers.

Paglia said the fact there was little racism in the campaign against Obama is evidenced by the fact he "was elected by white people."

Criticism of Obama, instead, is coming because of the "strategic failures he is making in pushing this very important issue of health care reform."

According to the Washington Independent, the exchange was "compelling."

Paglia, a professor of humanities and media studies at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and Salon.com columnist, earlier wrote, "Yes, there were ambiguities about Obama's birth certificate that have never been satisfactorily resolved. And the embargo on Obama's educational records remains troubling."

Camille has a libertarian streak. Sometimes she’s just too honest for her crowd.

It appears the Putin knows he is not Constitutionally qualified and is using as leverage. We warned that this may happen. Pelosi knew, who else knew and when. Seems to be treason.

Sometime before Bummer hit the big time as a potential presidential nominee, there was a systematic purge of his background. Digging the details of that out would be a whole nother story of itself. Maybe if Bummer does something that shames even his myrmidons, they will come forward with something to say.

0bamas’ hidden records: Why are these off limits?

1 Certified copy of original birth certificate
2 Columbia University transcripts
3 Columbia thesis paper
4 Campaign donor analysis requested by 7 major watchdog groups
5 Harvard University transcripts
6 Illinois State Senate records
7 Illinois State Senate schedule
8 Law practice client list and billing records/summary
9 Locations and names of all half-siblings and step-mother
10 Medical records (only the one page summary released so far)
11 Occidental College Transcripts
12 Parent’s marriage Certificate
13 Record of baptism
14 Selective Service registration records
15 Schedules for trips outside of the United States before 2007
16 Passport records for all passports
17 Scholarly articles
18 SAT and LSAT test scores
19 Access to his grandmother in Kenya
20 List of all campaign workers that are lobbyists
21 Punahou grade school records
22 Noelani Kindergarten records are oddly missing from the the State of Hawaii Department of Education.

Anyone who cares about their country would be very concerned that a POTUS (even a honky POTUS) had hidden every scrap of information of his life that he possibly could.

Actually, Camille Paglia's generally pretty tough on HRC. Paglia is not motivated by resentment over anything. She is one of the most consistently fair observers of culture and politics out there. Her comments about the birthers are bad news for Obama.

CP might finally be turning on Obama. She is disillusioned for sure, more so than she is admitting.

"Obama will need to cut the umbilical to his hometown posse, whose inefficiency and poor decision-making took the shine off his honeymoon and brought the dispirited Republicans back from the dead," she advised at the time.

What a line! Go Camille!

I am old enough to recall when, back in the 70's, Camille Paglia called a young woman on going to a guy's dorm room, actually getting into bed with him while they were both drunk, then saying "no" at the last minute and calling it "rape" the next day.

Paglia didn't say it wasn't "rape", because the women actually did say "No!". But she also said that it was stupid to think that government could protect you beforehand on a momentary decision to behave like an idiot and then say, "No". She also said that this kind of encouraged naivete for women was not in the least bit "female empowerment". Want to empower your daughters, parents? Wise them up!

Sounds like common sense today, but in that era, Paglia was the first one to bring an ounce of common sense to the feminist argument -- unfortunately it was only "an ounce".

One curious thing about Zero's presidency that will be unique, there will be no biography. Biographers won't have anything to research. There won't be a "Presidential Library". There won't be anything to put in it.

I predict she’ll go the way of David Mamet. Both have their hippie dreams to keep them warm, but that was such a long time ago and the gas bills keep coming in.

Bummer is, in essence, a committee. Without that “hometown posse” he is a puppet without a puppeteer. If Paglia expects that to do anything, she’s going to get a big surprise.

18 SAT and LSAT test scores

Thanks for adding these to the litany. The release of these Obama fears over all else.

I confess that I stole the list from someone else. But no one has challenged that line by showing me where they are.

It is my nature to be very suspicious of liberals appearing to be honest (always wondering what's really going on behind the curtain).

Her comments about the birthers are bad news for Obama.

I sincerely hope you are right.

That list has been going around for awhile. It didn't include the SAT and LSAT scores, and I'd pointed that out. Someone, somewhere included these.

The LSAT's would show that Obama never ever could have gotten into Harvard Law School without AA, and would make his Magna Cum Laude (Top 5%) graduation one of the most profound mysteries of academic history.

I’ve been called names by leftists before. Lying, slandering and personal attacks are the foundation of liberal debate. As far as the birth thing goes, I believe 0’s grandmother, and she is blacker than he is. Not only does her additional blackness give her more street credentials, she was old enough at the time to remember where 0 was born. He was too young to remember anything. It’s not his fault, mind you. We all go through a brief time in our lives that is hard to remember.
