Transcript: Obama on 'Face the Nation'
CBS News ^ | September 20, 2009 | Bob Schieffer

...

Obama: Now, we are going to have to find some additional sources of revenue for the other third or so of the health care plan. And I've provided a long list of approaches that would not have an impact on middle class Americans. They're not going to be forced to pay for this. Insurance companies, drug companies are gonna have to be ponying up, partly because right now they're receiving huge subsidies from folks.

Schieffer: But aren't they going to then pass it on to consumers? I mean that's what you know the Chamber of Commerce is saying. They're starting a big ad campaign right -

Obama: Right.

Schieffer: - now, they're saying you're gonna put these taxes on these insurance companies on people that make things like X-rays and lab tests and all of that and they're just going to turn right around and pass it right on to the consumer.

Obama: Here's the problem, they're passing on those costs to the consumer anyway. The only difference is …

Schieffer: But this would be more

Obama: No, the difference is that they're making huge profits on it, Bob. I mean, let's take the Medicare HMO programs that are being run by insurance companies. It's estimated by everybody that they're overcharging by about 14 percent. This amounts to about $177 billion over 10 years. About $17 billion a year, $18 billion a year. That's just going to pad their profits, hasn't been shown to make Medicare recipients any healthier. And in fact because those huge subsidies are going to insurance companies, Medicare recipients are not getting a good deal.

So big new taxes on insurers, drug companies, and medical device makers, including the Baucus 35% tax "Cadillac" health insurance plans, will not be passed on to consumers? You lie!

Since even the unions don't believe Obama on this, the Tax on 'Cadillac' Plans Draws Flak.

Obama would put the private sector out of business leaving only the public "option".

Oil, utilities, automakers, drug companies, real estate funds, and insurance companies stock used to be the bread-and-butter of retirement funds. Now that ALL of these categories have been singlehandedly decimated by Barry, retirement funds are hopelessly behind.

Obama sees no benefit to corporate profits. Profits? Who needs profits? Expansion? Research? Pfffwwwtt! No need! Just take all those old “profits” and send ‘em on in to Uncle Sam. The government will take that money and put it to good use — studying “Why do men chat up women in bars?” and stuff like that. You know, stuff that will grow the economy.

Once again Obummer demonstrates his complete ignorance of the business world. If you tax companies or services, those industries in order to remain viable will have to increase their costs, which affects customers ala the Middle class. This is typical liberal double-speak, as long as he doesn’t ‘directly’ tax the middle class he looks like a saint, but he still gets our money by taxing the services we use which causes us to pay more for them.

It’s insulting that he thinks we believe this $hit!

WE WILL pay for increased costs imposed on providers.

All other criticism aside, is this how a President who is supposed to be such a great orator should speak?

I gotta, we got to, we are gonna, etc, I mean, in between all the ur’s and uh’s and such?

Didn’t see any of it but the little I heard about it suggests preachy, repetitive and not aware of the definition of “tax.”

Probably neither. Nothing he does or says can damage him in the eyes of his disciples. Nothing he can say or do will enhance him in the eyes of those who see the real obama.

Even when people are being killed by the implemention of obama care his worshippers that voted for him for free health care will be too stupid to see the truth.

And do not fool yourself, he is in full agreement with what is going on in California concerning the farmers, in fact , he probably initiated it.

LOL. To listen to him "uh" & "ah" thru his responses, that seems like that's exactly what he's thinking.

First of all, when companies are taxed beyond limits, they ALWAYS PASS THOSE COSTS ON. ALWAYS.

Second, this proposal will actually INCREASE THE COST OF ALL HEALTHCARE AND MEDICAL SERVICES WHICH IN FACT WILL BE PASSED ON TO CONSUMERS.

How convenient that Obummer fails to mention or take into account any of these small little inconvenient details.
