ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis told Fox News' Chris Wallace on Sunday that her group "absolutely pays its taxes." Not true: The IRS and Louisiana's taxmen have imposed nearly $2 million in liens against ACORN for failing to fork over taxes at its New Orleans national headquarters.
The IRS recently filed a $548,000 lien against the group, and Louisiana state tax officials have slapped $334,000 in liens on ACORN since last October.
Evidence that ACORN ignored its tax obligations may be less exciting than its branch offices' eagerness to help a self-professed pimp break multiple laws, or the voter-registration fraud for which various of its workers have been convicted.

This is for failure to remit withholding tax - the taxes taken out of their employees wages. So evidently none of their employees have been getting Social Security credit for the time they’ve worked there.
The lies that Bertha Lewis told during that interview only emphasize the criminal nature of the organization called ACORN.

Hardly any reporters are mentioning the $8.5 billion allocated to ACORN in the Porkulus bill. What could those criminals do with money like that??

Years ago I worked for a company that got in tax trouble and I didn’t find out til years later (when I got a SS statement) that my former boss had not been reporting and/or paying SS withholding to the IRS for a period of time. So I have 2 years blank which really burns me up, because the money was taken out of my paychecks AND it looks like I was unemployed for 2 years.

The failure to pay with-held SS & payroll taxes usually brings the rath of the IRS and criminal charges...what will the IRS do for Acorn?
Even Democrats have a tough time stomaching those who steal from the same wonderful entitlement programs they create. They still accept them, but they have a tough time doing it.

These corrupt bastards deserve jail time. Right along with half of Obama's cabinet.
Actually, rather than instill faith and trust in these people, this administration is making the whole country more leary of them. Is this the normal behavior for them? Inquiring minds want to know.

WHY is it that Joe the plumber was lamented all over the MSM for owing the IRS back taxes and ACORN owes IN THE MILLIONS and gets a media pass?

As explained by and IRS agent. They can arrest you for not filing forms, and filing fraudulent forms, but they can not arrest you for lack of paying taxes.... They just seize everything, including your future paychecks.
