Wouldn’t the employees’ distress have come from being fired and not from being filmed? After all they never watch Fox News, and the fringe media isn’t covering the story. (I don’t know about the Baltimore media.)

Why don’t they sue ACORN for wrongful firing?

Why does Bertha Lewis continue to trumpet the fact that they were fired?

I suspect that a portion of discovery would be all of ACORN’s corporate connections.

The Balmur media did get around to covering it, grudgingly.

Are they sure they want to do this? Acorn will lose this case and the negative publicity will kill them.

NBC started covering it today when they discovered the two tapers had gotten donations to help them with their work.NBC was busy bad-mouthing them.

WaPo has more details:

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2009/09/23/acorn_sues_okeefe_giles_and_br.html

The group filed its suit in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City and is seeking “a preliminary and permanent injunction against further distribution” of a hidden-camera tape made by O’Keefe and Giles that aired on BigGovernment.com, a Web project of Andrew Breitbart’s Breitbart.com company, along with compensatory and punitive damages.

...

ACORN’s general counsel, Arthur Schwartz, said the acts of O’Keefe and Giles in making the hidden-camera taping were “clear violations of Maryland law.”

The ACORN legal team will include Andy Freeman of the Baltimore firm Brown, Goldstein and Levy ; A. Dwight Pettit; Arthur Schwartz, from Schwartz, Lichten & Bright, PC in New York; and C. Justin Brown from Baltimore.

I doubt any family or friends of these two ACORNS has ever watched Fox either so who would know about their idiocy unless they tell them. No normal person—who might watch Fox— would associate with them anyway. Discovery is likely why the suit is from the two idiots in hope of protecting ACORN.

This is great; now maybe the case will give MORE exposure, including discovery findings.

I think ACORN is making a BIG mistake, but with all the IRS, Video, loss of Census association, etc., they are up against the wall and a lot of the "Community Organizers" are gonna be off the gravy train!

ROFL

When (if) it gets to court, you will have the ACORN people admit under oath they violated federal laws, among other laws.

Oh please, let this go to trial. . .

The liberal group contends that the audio portion of the video was obtained illegally because Maryland requires two-party consent to create sound recordings.

The law prohibits interception of communication, not recording conversations. An important distinction.

Is the group suing or the members on the tape?

I doubt they will let O’Keefe and Giles have access to any files.

I agree... let it go to discovery... But I think I read somewhere that the ACORN Baltimore office wasn’t properly licensed to do business in the state of Maryland. So how can they bring suit?
