FBI Terror Probe Expands, Intensifies--Nearly All of the Bureau's U.S. Field Offices involved

Investigation Into Alleged NYC Bomb Plot Includes Nearly All of the Bureau's U.S. Field Offices

Criminal Complaint Suggests Cops May Have Tipped-Off Zazi By Questioning New York Imam, Seizing Car

The FBI is expanding its investigation into an alleged terror plot targeting New York City, and nearly every one of the FBI's 57 field offices in the country and several overseas are now in on the case, working along with local police.

On Wednesday, the NYPD was showing a new training video in precincts citywide detailing the intelligence from the agencies. Bomb Squad Commander Lt. Marc Torre narrates the video, giving regular cops some tips on how to spot evidence of homemade bombs.

"Of particular concern to us is a family of explosives called peroxide-based explosives," he says in the video.

It's part of the now-nationwide alert as police try to locate whoever might have been working with terror suspect Nazibullah Zazi, the Afghan-born Denver resident who federal sources believe is the central figure in a terror cell involving at least 12 people. Police are being told to watch for any large quantities of hydrogen peroxide, drain cleaner, acetone, or nail polish remover – various types of acids – and large quantities of ammonia nitrate or urea fertilizer.

That's coupled with visits to public storage areas to enlist the assistance of employees there, and stepped-up security on mass transit, hotels, stadiums, and entertainment complexes.

It's not just New York either. People across the country are experiencing the same routine as folks who were going through heightened security at Citi Field for the Mets game last night.

Looks like the FBI hit a home run, I hope the smack the crap out of NYPD if they indeed compromised the investigation.

I think Obama’s main concern is improving his image....

If anything happens, it is in the Obama/Ramn Emanuel playbook to use the crisis to seize even more power. I don’t doubt that they are secretly hoping for an incident; not a major 9/11 type disaster, but one that will give them an excuse to crack down even more, maybe even declaring martial law when civil rights are waived.

Whenever I think of that video of the McCain/Palin group marching through the Upper West Side and the reception they received, I wonder if I’d be able to conjure up any sympathy if NYC got hit again. I know there’s more to NYC than the upper West Side, but those people really made me sick and disgusted.

Meanwhile, Zazi is repining and sleeping well on the Army Field Manual (for “interrogation”) that he was issued upon arrest. (Obama has ordained that he can't be tortured by being deprived of snooze time.)

Wonder how many manhours are going to this....instead of doing a serious interrogation of this clown?

A small town terror incident.

That will be the trigger. My take.

I have been fearing an attack ever since Obama came into office. It has been worse though, since this news came to light. I do not get why libs think these savages will like us with Obama in power.

Some. The Upper West Side is historically home to some of the most left people in the USA. Think of it as San Francisco’s ugly sister city. There are poor and middle class folks there, too, (mostly natives living in rent-controlled housing that’s been in their families for generations). It appeals to the artsy crowd that has migrated to NYC over the years (vs. the Wall Street types who tend to the East Side).

'maybe even declaring martial law when civil rights are waived.'

That would be interesting. However, as it is. Obama and Congress repealed Pres. Bush cabal over the States.

Sec. 333. Major public emergencies; interference with State and Federal law

'(a) Use of Armed Forces in Major Public Emergencies- (1) The President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to--

(A) restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that--

(i) domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order; and

(ii) such violence results in a condition described in paragraph (2); or

(B) suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such insurrection, violation, combination, or conspiracy results in a condition described in paragraph (2).'

I have no doubt Obama is bad, but FReepers kept their mouths shut when President Bush was 'given'[Thanks GOP] 'martial' law power.

Thanks, it is always nice to come on FR and learn something. My knowledge of NYC is limited to movies, t.v. and the internet. Sounds like I wouldn’t want to live in that neighborhood.
