A political activist and pro-family leader says he has great concerns about today's Capitol Hill gathering of Muslims from all across the United States.
The event is called Islam on Capitol Hill 2009, and is expected to draw 50,000 Muslims to the nation's capital. It is being promoted as a day of Islamic unity "to express and illustrate the wonderful diversity of Islam." The organizers also said they intend to inspire a new generation of Muslims to work for the greater good of all people, regardless of race, religion, or national origin.
Robert Knight is a senior fellow at the American Civil Rights Union and a senior writer for Coral Ridge Ministries. He says having 50,000 Muslims on Capitol Hill paints a very potent picture for Muslims around the world.
"It's adding up to a picture that the United States may not want to paint because there are a lot of Muslims who will be inspired, perhaps, to get more militant if they think the United States is falling into Muslim hands, basically," he points out.
Robert KnightAccording to Knight, many Muslims believe they have a sympathetic ear in President Barack Obama. "Obama held no National Day of Prayer events at the White House this year, but gave a very positive eloquent speech about Ramadan," he recalls. "And he also has said some very interesting things overseas about the emergence of Islam."
Organizers say it was President Obama's inauguration speech in January and his speech broadcast from Egypt in June that inspired them to hold Friday's event, scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. Eastern.

If another 9/11 does happen and those buffoons again gather on the steps on Capitol Hill to sing “God Bless America”, I am personally going to go to Washington and kick every one of those buffoons square in the ass. Phony patriotism really gets me PO’d.
stop....really we are a mess right now in U.S. some of those sane Muslim families are as scared as we are...
who do you trust? The President gives no one confidence...and with everything going on in the US with terrorist....would you want to be a descent muslim family...I would be scared for my kids...anything happen in the U.S. they will be pointed at....

Yes, of course, we have beheading by rusty kitchen knife in front of the cameras, beheading by saber, beheading with piano wire, beheading with a battle axe, beheading with a scimitar.
Then we have suicide bombers with knapsacks packed with ball bearings, nails, and warfarin (blood thinner to promote bleeding), bombs detonated remotely by cell phone, bombs made of household cleaners and gasoline.
Oh, and let’s not forget the stonings, hangings, shootings, bludgeonings, and running through with spears and swords.
Then there are the “honor killings” executed by being burned alive with gasoline or acid, hacked to pieces with machetes,
or bludgeoned with heavy objects.
And of course there are the tortures; plastic shredders, acid baths, molten lead in the mouth and nose, electrodes to the genitals, and other such exquisite methods of tormenting the living, though not to be living much longer.
Yes, let’s celebrate the rich diversity that is Islam.
