September 29, 2009 With No Fanfare, Senate Hits ACORN, Again
With no fanfare and no roll call vote, not even a speech -- the Senate on Tuesday unanimously approved an amendment by Sen. Mike Johanns, R-NE, that bars any funds from the Defense spending bill from going to ACORN.

why in the world would DEFENSE spending go to ACORN????
you should be asking your senators and reps.
Anybody up for a little Apache ACORN stew?
Didn’t we try to get monies for these bozos at ACORN out of the Zero stimulus? Now, because two brave journalists have outed what we’ve known for a very long time, they decide to stop giving them money. Fools-a-plenty on capital hill.
This is the reason congress writes thousand page bills. It makes a great place to hide goodies for their friends.
Who knows? At one time the US Army was a major funder of breast cancer research — brought about by some legislative requirement, no doubt.
You basically just named one of the major problems with the way appropriations and legislation is handled in Washington. It’s a corrupt town.
Relentless redistribution of wealth?
Obama won’t like this one bit.
Does this imply they WERE giving money to ACORN? But now they’re not?
The Senate can vote all they want to defund ACORN, the problem is ACORN has 300+ shell organizations that also get federal funding (not necessarily through the umbrella ACORN organization) so while people are cheering ACORN’s death, they’re forgetting all the roots ACORN has - which are probably still getting funding.
I don’t know but they need to pass such a law about each and every conduit of money that flows out of taxpayer coffers (all govenment, state and federal) - into Acorn’s treasury.
Someone posted earlier today or this week a thread about Acorn just being given millions - seems like it was for firefighting or something bizarre like that....will have to search.
We have to remember that Acorn is a multi-headed dragon with seemingly unending connecting lines to all sorts of other shill “organizations”.
Any such defunding of Acorn needs to be saying - no funds for Acorn or ANY OF ITS CONNECTED GROUPS.
Wow... seems to me that ACORN has it’s hands in almost all facets of government! Why does it take so many “laws” to prevent payment to this corrupt organization?
Could it really be that they are so involved in all aspects of government that they can NOT be purged? Hope not, but it sure seems to be a problem that exists through all of government agencies...
The social services and "education" budgets are mostly made up of this type of fraudulent thieves.
Agreed. It’s the only explanation for why the Rats seem so unconcerned about these anti-Acorn measures. They’ll just find other Rat-supporting organizations (La Raza, etc, etc) to divert the taxpayer dollars to. The far Left could not survive in this country without massive support from taxpayers in various guises and the major “charitable” foundations.
There was a thread this morning announcing that FEMA has awarded money to ACORN.

Can you imagine how much pork is in the federal budget?
Does this imply they WERE giving money to ACORN? But now theyre not?

Unfortunately with this crowd of socialists, we need to expressly tell them what NOT to do. Every single appropriations bill will need to forbid ACORN/COI and all related agency funding, or they will still try to make it happen.
In spite of us and all those kids did.
Because ‘they won’ and they pigeon hole us as terrorists. (and they complain about OUR tone??!)

I still need to do more research on this site, but it seems like a good resource for exposing the ACORN/COI network:

I found that link through RedState.com.
