Obama worries Europe after Polish slight

The American decision to back out of a Bush-administration agreement has Europe worried that Barack Obama may sacrifice Central Europe to repair relations with Russia.

The Los Angeles Times has reported that the Polish Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, said last week his country would now have to look inward rather to the US for security.

Barack Obama in overturning the Bush-era plan for the missile shield in Poland and other parts of Eastern Europe caused memories of the Cold War to come flooding back in Poland, which was once the casualty of Russian domination.

In Poland and among other members of the old Soviet bloc, the US announcement was bungled, being delivered to the Polish prime minister by telephone after midnight.

Members of Poland's national security bureau said they first heard about the changes from the media.

Washington explained to the prime minister that it was changing plans in response to downgraded intelligence assessments about Iran's missile capabilities.

Only 0bama would think we need to “repair” relations with Russia by kissing their asses and stabbing our friends in the back.
This from the guy who bowed before the Saudi crown prince.

Europe wanted a ‘diplomat’ instead of a ‘cowboy’. Now they got one!

Pathetic that they really believed. Of course, they never got even the benefit of doubtt; as most do not access Fox News and listen to CNN as their American sourced info. (Sky News a help, for sure; but CNN carries 'America' so to speak.)

(Met up with an American friend last year; living in Italy for many years and she was preparing her ballot - for Obama. She was shocked - and grateful - when I and others, shared with her the ugly details of Obama's politics and offered that she listens to CNN often; and had NEVER heard any this background. As well; working in Academia; she had never heard otherwise from her American peers.)

Of course; even this challenges one to explain the lack of insight here at 'national levels' per European community with such vested interests.

Am wondering if Obama's guarantees for a 'weakened America' are not at least, accelerating the shift in Europe, away from socialism. They do want to survive; and self-congratulations easy for what is imagined as a 'do good' socialism when someone else taking care of the real business of survival.

To the reemerging Communist Russia and Putin, this wasn’t really about the missile shield. It was about US bases, people and technology positioned in countries he would like to invade.

Another reason why the decision sits poorly with the Poles: the announcement was made on the 70th anniversary of Russian tanks rolling into Warsaw. Class act, Barry.

Did you also order Air Force One to strafe some high rises in Poland at the same time, to complete the Presidential flick off?
