Officer, 44, shot in arm while serving search warrant on north side; police arrest 6 in house; top officials seek tougher laws to keep guns from felons
Another Milwaukee police officer was shot Wednesday morning - the fourth this year - and hours later city leaders announced a drive for tougher gun laws in Wisconsin to keep firearms away from felons.
The 44-year-old officer was shot in the left arm while trying to serve a search warrant at a house in the 3200 block of N. 12th St., police said. The 17-year veteran was in good condition at Froedtert Hospital on Wednesday night and is expected to recover.
Six people who were inside the house were arrested, including the person who was the target of the search warrant, Police Chief Edward Flynn said.
The officer shot Wednesday was the sixth Milwaukee officer injured in shootings since November 2007. In each of the earlier officer shootings, the gun came from Badger Guns or its predecessor, Badger Outdoors, in West Milwaukee, police said.

“and hours later city leaders announced a drive for tougher gun laws in Wisconsin to keep firearms away from felons.”
Of course......
Deflection tactic, this felon was and still is a product of liberalism not a lack of gun control. Its the liberal’s fault and we should stick to that line.
WI & IL. The only states that do not allow some form of CCW.
...because we all know that laws are what guide felons' decisions.
You can open carry in WI.
But you’ll probably get a free ride to the pokey, just the same......
Yup, we all know that felons will disobey every law EXCEPT GUN LAWS.
You mean gun crime exists in a good, leftist state like Wisconsin! Evidently there is a large AMISH population no one is aware of. Of perhaps the law-abiding citizens who are not permitted weapons for their own defense have all joined an evil militia! Yeah. That’s probably it.
The wording of the title is a little awkward plus my Alzheimers kicked in and I thought the title was "Fourth year this officer shot"! I'm thinking "Sheesh, I'd be looking for a new line of work!"
“top officials seek tougher laws to keep guns from felon”
Yeah, because laws work so well to restrain FELONS’ behavior. Abject morons.
Maybe there’s something to the anthropomorphizing of guns. Those Badger Outdoors guns are always going around shooting cops!
Gee, you would have thought the reporter would have put that in the article somewhere.
