Art cannot justify child abuse. In fact, art has no relation to morality. The commandant of Auschwitz arranged weekly concerts of classical music. Perhaps Beethoven helped him run the death camp more efficiently. If people werent elevated by the Ninth Symphony, why would we expect them to be elevated by Rosemarys Baby?
Many film personalities signed the petition. But as others have asked, how many of these people would have defended him if he were Father Polanski? Not one, I think.

bump
but civilization slides farther and farther down the pit..
Polanski is only a symptom of widespread cultural rot. Have you seen prime time TV? None of its really safe for kids anymore.
not that daytime TV is any better of course.
everything from public schools to music to television and films are used to erode morality and decency. Morality and decency are constantly ridiculed by the “popular cuture” run straight out of the Hollywood-NYC nexus.
Excellent article.
Of course they would devalue children, they already devalue the Fetus.

The Left is only interested in brainwashing children to further their ends. The fewer rights they have the deeper the indoctrination that can be achieved.
To me 'art' is Michelangelo or Monet. And Beethoven, Bach and Mozart. And even Wagner {but don't tell anyone ;-)]. And one painting that has always fascinated me is ..
'Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte' (by Georges Seurat)There was a print of that in my Elementary School in Chicago and during some drills it seemed like I was always standing in front of it. It's painted completely by little dots. The original is in The Art Institute of Chicago, and when I was older (teens) and first saw it there I sat and stared at it for what seemed like and hour. THAT IS ART.
And IMO Picasso doesn't count, he wasn't an artist, he was a nut that produced junk. He proved PT Barnum was right, 'there's a sucker born every minute'.
Only if he/she is a Democrat.
No, I don’t think of most films as art. John Ford is one exception, though. But THEY think of themselves as artists, and therefore exept from the rules the rest of us poor clods must follow.
