Airline asks passengers to pee before flying

Airline asks passengers to pee before flying

By Kesavan Unnikrishnan.

Japanese airline All Nippon Airways is asking its passengers to use the bathroom before they board the plane in an attempt to reduce carbon emissions.

The new policy was implemented by the airline from October 1. Signs are being put up at airport gates asking passengers to visit the lavatory before boarding.

The new policy started a one-month trial but the airline plans to expand it indefinitely if it's effective.

According to ANA, empty bladders will cut down passengers' overall weight which will result in lighter aircrafts and lower fuel use, thus resulting in a reduction in carbon emissions. The airline hopes that the saving in fuel will lead to a five-tonne reduction in carbon emissions in a one-month period.

As part of its new policy, Nippon Airways plans to position "loo attendants" near the boarding gates in terminals to ask passengers if they need to use the bathroom before boarding the plane. In case of emergency, restrooms will still be available on the plane.

Recently, Ryanair had implemented a new policy of charging passenger for bathroom use in the air.

How stupid and gullible we have become. Oh ok, I’ll play, assume that all 200 passengers hold their pee of let’s say 8 oz average. 200 X 8 = 400 oz of pee. Is 3 to 4 gallons of pee weight really going to make a difference?

Recently, Ryanair had implemented a new policy of charging passenger for bathroom use in the air.

This is the real outrage! Taking advantage of their sodden clients from Ireland and the UK, coming back from barhopping on the cheap in Bratislava!

The Japan thing is just common sense. Post signs to remind, why not? You never know if you'll be stuck in turbulence with the seat belt sign on when you really need to line up to contort yourself in that half-closet.

Bulimics with a doctor’s note get $10 their ticket price (but barf bags will be $5 extra for them).

Next they will be issuing a Hydromox to encourage every ounce of pee from the passenger. How about requiring every passenger to cut all their hair off. Hair has weight.

In thinking about weight, every passenger must go through a three month weight loss program to pass airport screening. And this is only the beginning:

In the future pregnant women will not be allowed on board until they have delivered their child. Babies will require a seperate ticket.

Those with abnormal body fat will have to have the excess body fat removed by liposuction.

Baggage will be weighed and charged by the kilogram.

Where is Johathan Swift when we need him? He could really put together a “Modest Proposal” that would put those airline passengers through a real screw job.

Come on!

What about the heavier loads that passengers could be carrying? You know... #2, seems they could require laxatives 24 hours before the trip, like for the bowel probe

That’s fine. Just as long as you can still take a dump on the drink cart.

Deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) is a serious health problem, and flying plus dehydration increases the chances of it happening. So you should drink plenty of fluids before and during flight to remain hydrated. PER FAA GUIDELINES!

Airlines have been advocating hydration for years since this problem was uncovered and explained. Next time you fly, check your airline magazine.

Now, boys and girls, can anyone explain what happens when you drink lots of fluids?

I’ll speak only for myself... I pee a lot.

Yeah, I pee before a flight... AND during the flight... AND after the flight.

I wonder if stupid green airlines are going to be ready for the lawsuits that will happen if they force dehydration on their customers? Because that is EXACTLY what will happen if in-flight relief is discouraged.
