Randi Rhodes Goes on Rampage Against Keith Olbermann
NewsBusters ^ | October 9, 2009 | P.J. Gladnick

Don't be surprised to soon see Keith Olbermann display a picture of Randi Rhodes on his "Worst Person In The World" segment while pompously intoning, "Have you no shame, madam?"

And what would be the cause for this "honor?" Well, yesterday Randi emerged briefly from radio obscurity to blast Olbermann's one hour special comment on ObamaCare that he delivered earlier this week. And it wasn't just a quick blast. She went on a rampage against him for her entire three hour show. To get an idea of the tone of the attack, here is what Randi posted on her blog:

Last night's Countdown on MSNBC was devoted to a one-hour "special comment" by Keith Olbermann. I always thought a comment was a brief observation. Evidently I was wrong about the "brief" part. I'm sorry, but that was the most self-indulgent hour I've heard since Emerson, Lake & Palmer broke up. Keith! Talking for an entire hour isn't a comment. It's a filibuster. Olbermann railed on for an hour about how we need healthcare reform. Keith, the best thing about stating the obvious is that you can state it pretty quickly. At least most people can. Watching that there were a lot of things I wanted to hear Keith Olbermann say. But mostly I wanted to hear him say "And in conclusion..."

Keep it up Randi. A few more blasts against Olbermann and you might finally break out of that shell of obscurity that has trapped you for the past year.

My money is on Randi “Dirt” Rhodes. She’s got 50 pounds on Olbermann, can bench twice as much, and fights with her fists instead of throwing lace doilies.

But frankly, if these two left-wing sumos pushed each other right over a cliff, I’d pity the rocks below.

How ironic. She spends three hours to deliver a message of criticism to someone who took one hour to deliver his message.

Olbie will soon have a 24-hour comment responding to her.

When I saw the headlines, I thought Olberman was getting blasted by a dead guy.

"If there's a rock and roll heaven, you know they've got a helluva band . . . ."

BTW, had a nice interview with one of the guys from Badfinger and the two singers from Mother's Finest the other day. MF was the first true black/funk/rock band and never achieved the kind of fame they should have, probably because they never came up with a hit song. Their (unrecorded) version of Aerosmith's "Train Kept a-Rollin'" remains the best ever done. We got to open for them in Tampa. While I thought I was better than their drummer, and our guitar player better than theirs, collectively they blew us off the stage.

Forgive me for correcting, but the original version of "Train Kept a Rollin" was recorded by Tiny Bradshaw back in the 1950s (I was listening to it in the car earlier this week). Aerosmith based THEIR 1974 version on the Yardbirds version of same song.

Yeah, but I never refer to the “original” of anything, because that’s kind of irrelevant. I always go with the most known/popular version. In this case, Aerosmith made it popular, but MF made it much better.

I saw MF play Train Kept a Rollin’ when they backed up Black Sabbath at the Music Hall in Boston in 1977. It was not well recieved. “You’re gonna see a whole bunch.......”
