On Monday, former President George W. Bush will be the "special guest speaker" at the "Get Motivated! Business Seminar" in Fort Worth, Texas, according to the event's Web site.
"Attend This Dynamic Seminar to INCREASE Your Productivity and Income!" the Web site says.
Other listed speakers include Gen. Colin Powell, who will discuss leadership, former football player Terry Bradshaw (speaking on competitiveness), former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani (perseverance), and a trio of motivational speakers Zig Ziglar, Dr. Robert Schuller, and Tamara Lowe.
Lowe, the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Get Motivated! Seminars, told Hotsheet that Mr. Bush is the sixth former president to speak at one of the organization's seminars. Former presidents Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan, Ford, and Carter spoke as well, she said, and other speakers have included Margaret Thatcher and Mikhail Gorbachev.
Speakers are "generally compensated" for their remarks, Lowe said, though some wave their honorarium or donate it to charity. She said she is contractually forbidden from discussing Mr. Bush's compensation or that of the other speakers.
--snip--
A representative for Mr. Bush could not immediately be reached to confirm the former president's involvement and shed light on what he will discuss. Lowe said she expected him to talk about "the challenges of 9/11 and American safety and security in the age that we live in."
She said past presidents had talked about their experience and challenges in the White House and offered insights on current events.
Tickets for the all-day event, to be held at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena, go for $4.95. (It is also possible to "Send Your Entire Office for Only $19 Not Per Person But Per Office")(continued)

That would be the best reason not to attend.

I don’t think I could stand the BS
You may not like his politics (Colin Powell), but it doesnt mean he is not a leader or good speaker. You cannot start closing your mind off to what people are saying, you will become ignorant..Listen, because you will know what is going on and then you can build your defense...part of critical thinking...the other alternative is live in a cave.
He supported Obama. That is all I need to know. Good speaker? So was Hitler. Leader? I don't need one like that. In fact I don't need no stinking leader. Subsitute leader for badges.
You really dont know Colin Powell.
I suppose you do. I look at people's present actions and not their past. He supported Obama and nothing can excuse that.
Isn’t that the truth? “Powell on leadership” — what a laugher. He sure knows how to pick “leaders,” huh?
I sure don't get it.
To be honest I do. Obama is black and that is all that mattered to Powell. A sad commentary.
Paraphrasing Steve Martin here:
Neal: "You know everything is not an anecdote. You have to discriminate. You choose things that are funny or mildly amusing or interesting. You're a miracle! Your stories have NONE of that. They're not even amusing ACCIDENTALLY! "Honey, I'd like you to listen to George W. Bush and Zig Ziglar, they've got some amusing anecodotes for you. Oh, and heres a gun so you can blow your brains out. You'll thank me for it." I could tolerate any insurance seminar. For days I could sit there and listen to them go on and on with a big smile on my face. They'd say, "How can you stand it?" I'd say, "Cause I've listened to George W. Bush and Zig Ziglar. I can take ANYTHING." You know what they'd say? They'd say, "I know what you mean. Those seminars? Whoa!"
Hey Texas, why on earth would you want anything to do with a rino meet?I dont get it.There is nothing any of them have to say that would be worth hearing and certainly not worth whatever it costs.Just crazy.
I absolutely agree, bb.223. Powell’s unexplained support of BO in the last election influenced many idiotic and uninformed drones to support Zero. It was a low blow to the Republican party and absolutely inexcusable.
One more reason to skip the speech? He’s not a Conservative: end of story.
BUMP!
I like to stay informed...I like the art of debate. You have to know your opponent. You must know both sides in order to see the angles. There are always a lot of them, but the crazy left...wow they just throw it all off, because they dont follow any logic. So, its a personal preference...i read everything...and I am not afraid to meet or talk to anyone, because I am confident in what I believe.
Beware of wolves in sheeps clothing. As to Powell, he showed his hand and I see no further reason to listen to him about anything.
