“For a show that prides itself on its knowledge of news and history, Hardball with Chris Matthews made some embarrassing errors last night, including the fact that Ron Reagan Jr. apparently doesnt understand the Bush Doctrine.”
that makes two of us...unless he means pre-emption, but as far as I know, the “Bush Doctrine” was a leftist assignation for whatever went wrong they could snipe at...his policies changed as the war unfolded, so there is no one single doctrine...

We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.
For all the confusion over what constitutes “The Bush Doctrine,” this is the best definition I can think of. I know Charlie Gibson thinks it means “preemption,” and it may well involve preemption, I guess. But of course, in the case of Afghanistan, we fought them because they were harboring the group that attacked us.
In the case of Iraq, fears of future attacks were invoked as justification. However, we also based it on Iraq having violated the treaty settling their invasion of Kuwait way back when, so it, too, was not strictly a case of preemption.

The Werewolves like to be mentioned, ie Sec Rice. However, there is no comparison to what Iraqi and Afghanistan 'resistance' in terms of damage and people killed.

Tell Matthews to watch the last episode of Band of Brothers.
Part of that episode focused on it.

roflol! Those darn facts are stubborn things that neither Chris Matthews nor Ron Reagan bother with.
If there weren't enough reasons to tune out MSNBC already they've brought back Mr. “expert on everything” including conservatives & Afghanistan, Ron Reagan.

As a guy who was there for a year after WW II ended, Gaffney is full of it. Guys died later from injuries received during the war but there were no Nazis killing us either with guns or improvised devices.

I'm still not quote sure what the Bush Doctrine is, either, even after all of the talk about it when Sarah Palin couldn't answer a piece of trash masquerading as a journalist's question about it.
