Same Day Voter Registration Re-Introduced WASHINGTON, DC U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) and U.S. Representative Keith Ellison (D-MN) are reintroducing legislation to "make it easier for Americans" to register to vote by allowing same day registration at polling places for all federal elections.
By allowing voters to register at polling places the same day as they vote, the Same Day Registration Act would help increase voter turnout and voters would not have to worry about sitting an election out because they missed a registration deadline. And by having voters register in person, there is less of a chance that voter fraud could take place.
The bill is cosponsored in the Senate by Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Jon Tester (D-MT), Tom Harkin (D-IA), and John Kerry (D-MA). In the House, the cosponsors are Representatives Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Kendrick Meek (D-FL), Timothy Walz (D-MN), Bob Filner (D-CA), and James Oberstar (D-MN).
Helping more Americans exercise their right to vote is in the best interests of our democracy, Feingold said. The system in Wisconsin, which allows for same day registration, has worked well for more than 30 years and is a major reason why Wisconsin is a national leader in voter turnout. In fact, the states that frequently have the highest voter turnout all allow Election Day registration. We should take action to get more people involved in the political process and same day registration is a proven way to do it.
Minnesota routinely leads the nation in voter turnout usually over 70%, Ellison stated. We do so because in Minnesota our right to vote is a sacred right and a moral obligation. In Minnesota we do everything that encourages, fosters and facilitates everyones ability to exercise that right. Enacting a National Election Day Registration law would do for the nation what same day registration has done for our State give a voice to all who want to vote.
Since 1968, American political participation has hovered at around 50 percent for presidential elections and 40 percent for congressional elections. In the 2008 election, the top five states in terms of voter turnout were Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maine, New Hampshire, and Iowa all of which allow voters to register on Election Day and all of which had turnout of 70 percent or more. Same day registration can also be a cost saver by reducing the need for provisional ballots. Allowing same day registration can also address concerns about potential voter fraud. Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie has called same day registration a no brainer and has said it is more secure than advance registration because you have the person right in front of you not a postcard in the mail.

Yep. Another tactic to stuff the ballot boxes.
This is a VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY BAD IDEA!!!!!
They don’t want to “make it easier for all Americans to vote;” they want to expand voter fraud!
THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!!
The way they are looking at it, why even have people register? Just let them walk in and vote. They don’t care if they are legally able to vote or not.....as long as they vote for them.
A horrible idea! Made for voter fraud! One can import a bunch of people into a community!
South Dakota!
Wake Up.
You have a mole within your political process.
This kind of problem is what has caused so much trouble in California!!!!
No one seems to establish the veracity of the voter once the polls are closed. Ballots all get counted.
How does a ballot belonging to an ineligible voter get pulled out of the system??
DO NOT DO THIS!!!
Nope. Vote early and vote often. Vote even if you are dead.

Why do we even need them to register? What would be the point of registering at one table then going to the booth to vote. Just allow the illegals and anyone else that can be bought by leftist to vote anyway they want and as often as they want. Heck lets let Europeans vote from over there and we wouldn’t want to leave out the UN. Lets just have one big tent can we.
what the hell is wrong with these people?
Feingold..
The perfect example of why when we get beck in control we need pass term limits.
Basically, the kind of voter you get with these schemes...
California, I think, doesnt even require legal ID to vote if im not mistaken. Just like the May Day rallies and million man marches, it’s so obvious this is just and effort to bus folks in and alter an election, like brian bilbray’s for instance.
All RATS pushing this. Corrupt no doubt since the RAT party are the most corrupt bunch of communists.
Maybe it should be called the Cousin Pookie Voter Registration Act, in honor of Obama's Cousin Pookie.
bump
Notice all the Minnesotan’s in on this thing. MN already has this pile of crap and we got Al Franken by 325 votes. It’s time for the rest of the country to see how real elections are run.
Ah yes, the “ACORN Voter Fraud Facilitation Bill”.
This commie from san diego needs to be voted out...cap and trade, illegals amnesty, everything liberl he votes it..progressive caucus.
wow, like a bad penny, seems this keeps turning up, in 2002 California’s Prop 52 attempted to do this exact same thing! And went down. If at first you don’t succeed....
