Liberal bloggers: Don't give $ to Obama, Dems until they pass pro-LGBT laws

Some of the top liberal bloggers -- Daily Kos, FireDogLake, Dan Savage -- are tired of waiting for President Obama and the Democratic Congress to take major action on gay rights issues. So they're telling supporters "to stop giving money to the "DNC, Organizing for America, or the Obama campaign until the President and the Democratic party keep their promises to the gay community, our families, and our friends."

Started by AMERICAblog founder John Aravosis, it's called "Don't Ask, Don't Give" and Aravosis takes pains to say that this is more of "'pause,' than a boycott. Boycotts sounds so final, and angry. Whereas this campaign is temporary, and is only meant to help some friends -- President Obama and the Democratic party -- who have lost their way.

Blogger Pam "pamshouseblend" Spaulding was a little tougher:

Ban-schman. Homo-nazis don't let anything like a state constitutional law get in their way. Recently, here in Texas, a radical leftist judge ruled our Constitutional marriage provision as well as DOMA unconstitutional when two homosexuals from Dallas went to mAssachussets to get "married" and then promptly sought a "divorce" in their home state. The decision is being appealed.

I’ve been reading the comments posted below that blog post on SFGate.com and there are a LOT of gays posting that the whole idea borders on ridiculous, and think the whole idea is a publicity stunt by Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas Zúñiga to drum up more page views for that blog (but why? Daily Kos is one of the most widely-read blogs in the USA, period).

I love judges that demand equal protection - the the government must treat everyone equally but where is their equal protection when the government taxes one person differently then another? Gives homes to one citizen and not another, gives free medical to one, charging the other.

They don’t seem to see any problem treating us differently when they want.

In some ways, if Prop 8 had been over turned here, millions of us taxpayers footing the bill, not being treated equally by the government were ready to go with our lawsuits.

Would have been interesting.
