Oppression of loyal citizen German Americans during WWI and WWII (primarily WWI, we’d gotten more resonable by WWII) was ridiculous, and damaged a large number of Americanized cultural institutions which German immigrants had founded.
To “close mosques” would be an even more direct violation of Constitutional principles, particularly when American citizens are involved.
I find it ridiculous that so-called “Conservatives” argue for greater infringements on the rights of American citizens. More thorough vetting of immigrants and applicants for nationalization? Certainly. An increased FBI focus on ties between militant organizations, money laundering, and organized crime? Definitely. Special taskforces to investigate criminal and/or terrorist acts which are clearly ideologically linked? By all means. However, to stomp on the Constitutional rights of American citizens (born or naturalized) is to become no better than our enemies.
The VAST MAJORITY of the mosques in America are run by...
altogether now... FOREIGNERS! Hello?
And “if” these mosques are promoting anti-American, criminal activities AS MANY ARE, they should be SHUT DOWN and their FOREIGN MEMBERSHIP DEPORTED...
