ACORN has filed a lawsuit claiming that Congress crossed the Constitution when it passed a law cutting off federal funding to the organization.
The Center for Constitutional Rights filed the lawsuit on ACORNs behalf Thursday in Brooklyn federal court. It claims the law was unconstitutional because it punitively targeted an individual organization.
Messages for comment left at the White House and the federal agencies named in the suit were not immediately returned.

Dare we hope that pursuit of this case will reveal that any such funding is unconstitutional and should be cut off?
This lawsuit will be accompanied by some serious forum shopping to get a sympathetic, Dem-appointed judge.
Leftist only mention the Constitution when they think it helps them.
I don’t know if there is merit to their argument. However, I do know and everyone should know that this administration does not consider the constitution when acting.
Well if they can sue Congress, so can we....time to sue to get rid of Obamacare.
I thought they said they didn’t care.
It’s not punitive if the cut off is justified due to criminal acts or poor record keeping.
Its unconstitutional to oppose Obama.
Soveriegn Immunity.
ACORN is playing the victim now. They follow their own rules....”Deny, deny, deny” and the White House will back them. Watch this one.
why else did they sue in NY?
note how they did now sue in the state where their offices were raided.
Its unconstitutional to oppose Obama...said the wise latina.
Watch the court clerks. They usually assign the judges. That’s how organized crime gets the judges they want. Buy off the court clerk and you get what you want.
Bill of Attainder. There's a chance they may have a case here. If ACORN had already been convicted or found liable at trial for some criminal or civil wrongdoing, then the due process requirement set forth in the Constitutional prohibition of "Bills of Attainder" would have been satisfied.
I'm not an expert on ACORN, so it's possible that they have already been convicted or found liable in some other issues that may justify the actions of Congress.
I say let them sue. I would like to see them in court under oath and testify about the charges since Congress won’t call for hearings.
President Soetoro and Nancy Pelosi will both file amicus briefs in support of ACORN...
