No one ever accused Florida attorney Scott Rothstein of being subtle -- or of skimping.
Some investors say they were impressed by the ties Scott Rothstein, left, had with Florida luminaries, including Gov. Charlie Crist, right. .At an Eagles concert this year, Don Henley, the band's drummer, singled out Mr. Rothstein and his wife, Kimberly. "I don't normally do this, but this goes out to Scott and Princess Kimmy on their one-year wedding anniversary," Mr. Henley told the audience as the band ripped into "Life in the Fast Lane," its paean to the perils of excess. Mr. Rothstein paid $100,000 to one of Mr. Henley's charities for the dedication.
The son of working-class parents from New York City, Mr. Rothstein made his fortune by building a prominent Fort Lauderdale firm in the early part of this decade. Along the way, he forged ties with Florida luminaries, including Gov. Charlie Crist and pro-football legend Dan Marino. He cruised around town in Lamborghinis, flew chartered private jets, and owned several mansions overlooking the canals that have earned Fort Lauderdale the moniker the Venice of America...

Nice picture of Charlie Crist with this crook.
Whaa! What happens? I can’t read the rest of the article without subscribing.
Absolute scum.
Oh, sorry man... I’ll post more. He was operating a ponzi scheme.
A sure sign of liberalism: Giving 100K to a charity of Don Henley’s.
Wow does Charlie Crist hang around some crooked liberals...
“Absolute scum.”
Aha, in the Obamaloon cabinet, eh?
Last month, the lawyer’s fast rise came to a crashing halt after investors alleged that he had sold them stakes in phony employment-dispute settlements. Since legal settlements often are paid out over time, it is not unusual for employees who need the money right away to sell their stakes at a discount in exchange for an up-front cash payment. But according to investors’ allegations, Mr. Rothstein was selling stakes in settlements that didn’t exist — yet promising lucrative annualized returns.
The U.S. attorney’s office in Miami was not far behind. In a civil suit filed Nov. 9, prosecutors allege that Mr. Rothstein’s settlements venture was a Ponzi scheme. The Federal Bureau of Investigation says the alleged fraud could rank as South Florida’s largest-ever Ponzi scheme, involving hundreds or even thousands of investors who likely had invested more than $1 billion...
Which one is the crook?
Wow! Seems everyone wants to share a cell with Madoff these days, LOL!
I’ll give Rothstein credit. Being the biggest scam artist in the history of Florida scams is quite an accomplishment.
No matter what he did, he’s a drop in the bucket compared to Social Security. Now THERE’S a Ponzi scheme to behold!
Princess Kimmy???
These people are a laugh a minute. This is as bad as Muffy and Buffy.
Yep. I wonder how many of the pols are going to go to jail when the social security ponzi scheme collapses?
Why shouldn’t they? Put them in jail for life, seize their assets.
It’s funny that all these stories about ponzi schemes are coming out now....this guy, Madoff, etc. In the Madoff case, people knew the guy was running a scam, but the powers that be in Washington turned a blind eye. Now that Obamarama is in power, these stories are all coming to light. Why? Something else to blame on the Bush administration? Or does it fit in with the new philosophy in Wsshington that all capitalists are evil amd that we need the socialist nanny state to function?
I would not call these guys capitalists. I’m not sure they demonstrate anything more than that government doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do. Madoff got his start in the 80’s. You can’t blame that on any particular political philosophy or party. There were several during that period of time, and they all failed.
It sort of reminds me of the lefties blaming our current financial crisis on “laissez faire” economics. Never mind that we have not had laissez faire economics since the 1920’s. Everything that has gone wrong since then is a failure of government regulation.
Right you are, Capitalism has, at least, an implicit requirement for transparency. Thus, the con job violates the rules of the game.

She’s probably well on her way to her next Princess Kimmy act.
“I would not call these guys capitalists.”

I wouldn’t either, but you know the Obama worshipping media will. The propaganda machine will work overtime.
