DeMint: Terror trials 'pushed down' New Yorkers' throats
The Washington Times ^ | November 16, 2009 | Joseph Weber

Posted on 11/16/2009 1:17:45 PM PST by jazusamo

Sen. Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican, said in an interview that New Yorkers are being forced by the Obama administration to host the trials for terrorists suspected of planning the Sept. 11 attacks that killed thousands in lower Manhattan.

"They're having this pushed down their throats," the conservative lawmaker told The Washington Times' "American Morning News" radio show Monday.

He also said President Obama's decision to bring self-proclaimed September 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four accomplices to New York from the Guantanamo Bay detention center is another case of the president "doing a lot of things to look good" for the rest of the world.

"He's trying to show America is willing to submit and become a part of the rest of the world, rather than lead it," Mr. DeMint said.

Congressional Republicans — and some Democrats — warn that closing the detention facility in Cuba and bringing accused terrorists to U.S. soil for civil trials will result in such problems as exposing top-secret information in court, creating a terrorist target and allowing the defendants to use their trials as a platform for anti-American rhetoric.

Sen. DeMint is correct, Obama is more concerned how the world looks at us than the safety of Americans.

New Yorkers don’t give a sh@@. The crazed sick Democrats in NY welcome the chance to further tear America down.

Sen. DeMint is correct...

Yes, he is. So are all the others that agree with him (I think an overwhelming majority).

Question is....what is anyone doing about this? Can anything be done. If so....what?

How do we stop this and then get rid of what is obviously the rediculous excuse now tenuously holding the office of Fed. Atty Gen.??????

The trial should be moved to Barry's town, Chicago. That would, as Barry likes to say, "spread terrorism around"p>

Although in Barry's Chicago the terrorist would be lost among the organized crime types and the community organizers (all same, same).

As someone brought up on another thread a day or two ago, why didn’t Holder and Obama bring them to Washington DC for the trial?

Actually, from what I can tell, even most liberal New Yorkers are very much against having the trials here, either because of the security risk, the expense, the platform these animals are being given, or the fact that they don't deserve all the legal protections of a US citizen. Even the local, morning, news anchors were criticizing this today.

This is going to be very unpopular in NYC, and if anything goes wrong, (terror attack related to trial, trials become a circus, or God forbid an acquittal) 0bama could even lose New York State in 2012 over this.

If they moved the terrorist to DC they would run the risk of the terrorists being elected to congress as the more pro-American candidates.

Went to the site and signed the petition. This link should be posted on the homepage of every conservative (and other) websites in American.

Truthfully, I do not believe it will do much good. Holden is a stooge and does what he's told, and obammer is far too arrogant and self-absorbed to care.

Moderator! Can you post the link from post #3 in this thread on your homepage???

Thanks!

I salute Sen DeMint for taking on the Obama administration on this issue as well as Obamacare and Honduras. Next I’d like him to question Obama’s citizenship. After bows to the Saudi King and Emperor of Japan and now to jihadism, Obama is inviting our enemies to take us over. If China and Russia ganged up on us, who would come to our aid?
