Former presidential candidate Sen. John McCain said Thursday he has read Sarah Palin's book and has no regrets about picking her as a running mate.
"I felt honored to have Sarah," said Mr. McCain, Arizona Republican. "There's no doubt she energized our party and America. She's doing it today."
His praised came one day after defending top campaign advisers Steve Schmidt and Nicolle Wallace, whom Mrs. Palin criticized in her book, "Going Rogue: An American Life."
Mr. McCain said during the interview Thursday with The Washington Times' "American's Morning News" radio show that Mrs. Palin is a "political force in America."

Sarah Palin’s star is rising. If it wasn’t, John McCain wouldn’t have “played nice”.

He’s gotta kiss her butt now; to make up for the knife wound that is about 12 inches higher.

McCain is running in a contested GOP primary in 2010. The last thing he wants is to piss off Sarah. Moreover, he wants her endorsement.

I understand McCain may have some trouble holding on to his Senate seat come 2010. Any truth to that rumor?

McCain was so honored and pleased to have her that when his aides and advisers were cutting her up to the press he said nothing. Thanks Sen. McCain. You're a real peach. Now you're just wrangling to be her VP choice.

Gov. Palin may have been the only thing between McCain and a 1984 Mondale level of defeat. An apathetic conservative wing of the party going into November would have been a disaster for him.

Looks like he is looking for an endorsement from her in his 2010 re-election bid. His poll numbers must be suffering. If McCain had any intelligence, he would have thrown out Wallace and Schmidt during the campaign. He saw those two were train wrecks yet he kept them

Hmmmm...I don’t remember him being “grateful” this time last year when his campaign staff was trying to throw Sarah to the sharks.

My guess is that he doesn’t want any opponent to be able to quote him bashing Palin.

McCain didn’t really “defend” his pathetic campaign people, he just said something like, “They’re nice people and i like them”. He didn’t defend their side of the story.

McCain only received 46% of the AZ vote in the 2008 Presidential primaries, the only top tier candidate of either party not to win at least 50% of their home state vote. Yes, McCain is in trouble in getting the nomination. If he gets it, he will be reelected.
I hope JD Hayworth takes him on. Simcox is the only announced contender at this time.

Balderdash...the loss was entirely due to "Doublepeeyew" Bush's incompetence. Until the "Fuhnanceshul Cry-seese" was announced by Doublepeeyew the McCain/Palin ticket was drubbing OWEbamao!

If I were Sarah, and were publically asked if I could endorse McCain, my reply would be along the lines of
“I really wish I could endorse Sen. McCain, I really do. But to me, the word ‘integrity’ means something, so I can not stand here, in front of the American people and say something I truly do not believe”.
