Had to look to find out what state. I have personal connections to Centerville, OH (part of Dayton) and Centerville, MA (Cape Cod). It looks like this one is in Georgia from the related items on the link.

I grew up in Warner Robins, about 10 miles from Centerville. Warner Robins is known as the “International City” because of the various nationalities represented, most of which is related to the AFB. Some are Middle Eastern, and I would assume there are a fair number of Muslims. I am not aware of there being a significant number, though.

As a side note, Centerville is not far from Macon, where former Mayer C.Jack Ellis converted to Islam and changed his name to Hakim Mansour Ellis. He is also well known for sending a letter of solidarity to Hugo Chavez.

It isn’t your fault, it is the authors. There are probably 25 or 30 Centervilles in the USA, but the sloppiness of today’s writers is sickening. They won’t bother to identify the state.

NOVEMBER 2009 : (PHILADELPHIA) An alleged plot to send anti-aircraft missiles and guns to Syria or Iran was thwarted after a key figure was arrested in Philadelphia, the FBI said in documents released Monday.
-snip-
He was after missiles that could “take down an F-16,” the affidavit says.
Little did Tarraf [Dani Nemr Tarraf] know, he was requesting the weapons from an undercover agent, according to documents.
The affidavit alleges that Tarraf paid a $20,000 cash deposit to the agent in July for machine guns and shoulder-fired Stinger missiles, MyFoxPhilly.com reported. The documents say Tarraf’s dealings with the undercover officer date back to June 2007.

You are most kind.

There is a very large number of Centervilles. It also seems that Smithville is very popular, but some longer ones, not so much - like

El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Angeles del Río de Porciúncula (Yup - LA)

Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg (Blame the Nipmuck Indians)

Alaska CAN claim NUNATHLOOGAGAMIUTBINGOI Dunes outside of Bethel and of course Dakeekathlrimjingia Point (Ya, Eskimo).

Not to be outdone we do have Eek, Ak (with its own post office thank you very much) and the almost world famous Chicken.

I wonder what places other FReepers live near that have...odd names.

Thank you.

With so much gloom and doom - and for good reason, it’s nice to have a little fun every now and again.

Have a good holiday - hope you can be with friends and family.
