Former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs has indicated that he might consider an independent bid for the White House in 2012, and early polling shows he could attract up to 14% of the vote. However, some of that is almost certainly a generic protest vote as an unnamed some other candidate picks up between six percent (6%) and nine percent (9%) of the vote in similar 2012 match-ups.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that if the choice is between President Obama, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Dobbs, Obama leads 42% to 34% with Dobbs pulling 14% of the vote.
With Mike Huckabee as the Republican nominee, Obama leads 42% to 36%, with Dobbs at 12%.
If Sarah Palin is the GOP nominee, its Obama 44%, Palin 37% and Dobbs 12%.

The similarity of results regardless of the GOP hopeful suggests that voters currently see the question simply as a referendum on the president. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows that Obamas ratings have recently fallen to the lowest levels of his term.
Unless of course he runs as the GOP nominee.
Then it looks like we better not nominate another open borders amnesty RINO with a pathetic record of coddling illegal aliens.
Another Ross Perot.
early infatuation with “something new” and name recognition
He’s not gonna go from the anchor desk to Pres run...
Meaningless poll numbers.
One word: Daggett.
Romney is not my first (or probably 2nd or 3rd) choice for 2012 but I look forward to the anti-Romney mobs response to the fact that he is the only candidate in this poll that did not lose to Obama. (tied at 44% in a head to head) I think that if either Palin or Huckabee would take back the illegal immigration issue from Dobbs (a no brainer for the GOP) they could both easily beat Obama.
Wrong!
Meaningful poll, meaningful numbers.
This poll shows that
# 1. All 3 leading potential Republican candidates can beat 0bama in 2012.
# 2. Romney is running neck and neck with 0bama for 2012 for the very first time.
And # 3. Sarah Palin has just overtaken Huckabeec for the first time in a head to head with 0bama for 2012.
The poll has plenty of stuff in it.
How about Dobbs/Palin
Agree.
However, neither has been particularly outspoken on the illegal alien invasion...yet, and Huckabee was notoriously pro-illegal immigrant when he was governor, if I remember correctly.
I would expect that if the MSM can’t elect a squishy as the GOP candidate, that they’d run a spoiler.
Meaning no disrespect to Dobbs, but I don’t see him doing diddly squat. Ross Perot had one thing Dobbs doesn’t and that is a couple of billion dollars to throw at a campaign. When Dobbs can find a 100 or so million laying around then I will take an interest. If he wants to be a message candidate and scare the hell out of both GOP and dems on immigration, then go for it. Don’t give me this crap he is going to run for Prez. His numbers are a mile wide and inch deep.
The really good news is that ZEro’s numbers are falling by the day and he’s significantly worse off than he was just a month ago.
Correct.
That's why I compared Dobbs to Daggett(from the New Jersey elections this year), in my earlier post. Daggett kept polling in the 18% range for the last few months of the campaign..until it came to the real voting, then voters decided it would be a vote for Corzine if they voted for Daggett, and wisely decided to vote for Christie instead. Same thing would happen to Dobbs if he were to run.
“Dobbs would never show as well as Perot did.” True that, and for among other obvious reasons, he’s nowhere near as rich as the hand grenade with a bad haircut.
